Ciao, darlings! It’s Emma here, back with another fabulously pink post, this time from the Eternal City – Rome! 🩰🇮🇹
This Wednesday's #PinkTutuRome marks post number 1087 on www.pink-tutu.com - and my journey to Italy has been nothing short of magical. Now, you all know how much I adore exploring by train, and this journey from Derbyshire was no different. Gliding past rolling vineyards and quaint Italian villages, feeling the wind in my hair (and tutus!), filled my heart with that wonderful travel buzz. And once I arrived in Rome… sighs dreamily …let's just say, I fell head over heels!
You know me, my love for ballet knows no bounds. I kicked off my Rome adventures with a performance at the Teatro dell'Opera di Roma – oh, the spectacle! It was Tosca, Puccini's iconic opera. I gasped at the magnificent costumes, the passionate singing, and the soaring, romantic melodies. I found myself lost in the drama, the heartache, the sheer artistry. There's just something so captivating about watching dancers twirl and leap across the stage – the grace, the emotion, it's pure magic! 💖
Of course, after the show, I couldn’t resist a stroll through the bustling heart of the city. I adore those narrow, cobblestone streets – all the quirky little shops overflowing with beautiful trinkets and gorgeous fabrics, oh, the inspiration! I even found this cute little ballet boutique near the Colosseum – imagine! – selling the most adorable tutus you ever did see. It felt like a dream come true! I just had to try on a new pink tulle masterpiece – picture this, a vibrant magenta tutu with shimmering silver embellishments! I mean, could a girl ask for anything more? And yes, I bought it, of course! 😄
Speaking of fashion, did you know Rome is the epicentre of Italian style? You just have to wander around the chic boutiques along Via Condotti to see why! Every corner bustles with life – and glamour! I popped into a few vintage stores, finding some truly divine outfits – think silky pink dresses, bold headbands, and statement earrings, all for an absolute bargain!
This Wednesday, the weather here is beautiful – crisp and sunny, perfect for wandering through the city's incredible historic squares and iconic landmarks. I’ve spent hours strolling around the Roman Forum and the Pantheon, marvelling at the scale of these ancient marvels. They make you feel incredibly small, but in a very awe-inspiring way. It's hard not to feel a connection to history when you're standing amidst the ruins of such magnificent empires.
Rome is simply teeming with culture and delicious cuisine. Today, I treated myself to the most delectable gelato – creamy and smooth with a heavenly berry flavour. I mean, how could you resist that?! And later, I dined on a divine plate of spaghetti alla carbonara in a little family-run trattoria – the flavours were out of this world!
You know how much I love to share the pink tutu love with everyone, and today was no different. I danced my way through Piazza Navona, attracting smiles from tourists and locals alike. The joyful, energetic music in the square made my pink tutu twirl even more. The kids loved it too! They just couldn't get enough of it. Their laughter filled the air, making the experience even more special. ✨
This city just brims with creativity and joie de vivre. It’s like Rome itself has this contagious energy that inspires you to dance and be your best self. Of course, the most important part of this trip is meeting incredible new people! Every day brings a new encounter - from passionate locals sharing their stories and history, to other dancers from all corners of the globe. Each person I meet is a beautiful piece of this journey, a new pink tutu feather on my travel hat, as it were.
Tomorrow, I’m off to visit the Borghese Gallery and Gardens – I can’t wait to be inspired by the Renaissance masters and enjoy a leisurely walk through the manicured grounds. 🎨🍃
