Pink Tutu Rome: #1088

Hello darlings!

It's Wednesday, and you know what that means – it's time for another Pink Tutu Rome adventure! I’m Emma, and I’m thrilled to be bringing you the latest on my Roman escapade. Today, we're taking a trip back in time, exploring the incredible history of this magnificent city, stopping off to discover the most gorgeous ballet shows, and indulging in some seriously delicious gelato! Let's dive in, shall we?

Ciao bella, Rome!

I touched down in Rome on Monday morning after a magical train journey. Did I mention I absolutely adore trains? Something about gliding through the countryside, gazing out the window, listening to the rhythmic clatter of the tracks...pure bliss! Especially when I'm decked out in my signature pink tutu and travelling with my trusty ballet bag. It's a real head-turner!

And Rome did not disappoint! The moment I stepped off the train, I was met with the most breathtaking views. Picturesque buildings draped in ancient vines, the air thick with the scent of fresh pasta and espresso, and a symphony of chatter filling the streets. It's truly magical, you guys.

Exploring Rome’s Treasures

After settling into my lovely little B&B near the Pantheon, it was time to hit the ground running, literally. Let’s be real, Rome is a city made for walking. The cobblestone streets, the ancient monuments, the delicious food smells that drift around every corner – every step is an adventure!

On my first day, I ventured towards the Colosseum, and let me tell you, standing there in awe of its sheer magnitude felt surreal. It's so unbelievably well preserved, it's like stepping back into another era. Then, it was on to the Forum Romanum, with its crumbled ruins and ghostly whispers of ancient Roman life. My inner history buff was squealing with joy!

Fashion Flair and Ballerina Glamour

And of course, no trip to Rome is complete without a spot of shopping, especially when you're a pink tutu-loving fashionista like me! The shops around Piazza Navona are a dream come true. I scored the most fabulous pair of handmade ballet shoes in shimmering ruby red.

The streets around Via Condotti are simply overflowing with couture delights. While I couldn't resist picking up a gorgeous silk scarf and a dainty silver pendant that shimmered like moonlight on the cobblestones, it’s more about the experience than the shopping. Every shop seems to have a distinct character and charm that reflects Rome’s heritage, its passion, and its love for beautiful things.

The Dance of the Ages

What would a Pink Tutu Rome post be without some ballet? Oh, it just wouldn’t do! This week, I am in heaven because Rome has some of the most dazzling ballet productions. Imagine this: the majestic Teatro dell'Opera di Roma, a grand architectural masterpiece in itself, is presenting "La Bayadere" by Marius Petipa. Oh my goodness, the costumes were extravagant, the choreography breathtaking, and the artistry absolutely sublime!

Later this week, I'll be catching "The Nutcracker" at the Teatro Argentina, a 18th-century masterpiece right in the heart of the city. The history, the architecture, the spectacle of it all is truly transporting. This city was meant for ballet, darling, and the magic it conjures in the heart of such history is just exhilarating!

Finding My Rhythm in Roman Rhythms

To top it all off, Rome also offers the most fantastic dance studios! I managed to squeeze in a ballet class at the Scuola di Ballo del Teatro dell'Opera di Roma. It’s amazing to dance in the heart of Rome’s ballet scene, knowing that these studios have been the training grounds for legendary dancers. And it just wouldn’t be me without rocking my signature pink tutu, even at the ballet studio. That’s how you stand out and celebrate life, my dears.

The studio felt so vibrant and inspiring! I picked up a few tips and techniques from the skilled instructors and felt like I was really becoming part of the Roman dance community. There is an indescribable joy in dancing alongside fellow passionate dancers, all united in our love of the art.

Delicious Indulgences

Let's be honest, you can't talk about Rome without mentioning its incredible food! I'm currently obsessed with all things pasta and gelato. And guess what? My very favourite spot for a delectable scoop of creamy goodness is tucked away in a little piazza off of the beaten track. I'm still keeping the exact location secret, just a little Pink Tutu insider secret. But I'm giving you a hint: it’s next to a charming bookstore with a collection of rare, ancient volumes, just imagine!

The atmosphere of the piazzas, the gentle clinking of glasses, the warm Italian chatter filling the air – it all comes together to create an intoxicating ambience. Even just a walk down any random street in Rome is an olfactory adventure!

Wearing My Tutu with Pride

And, naturally, my pink tutu has been a constant companion throughout all of this! Every time I put it on, it’s like I’m wearing a little piece of magic. And, yes, I get a lot of stares and smiles, people taking photos, and even some enthusiastic thumbs up! Some say, ‘Is it a costume?’ and then it’s time to let them know – yes, but a costume that brings happiness. They start talking about their kids and ballet and sometimes even share their stories of their dreams as a kid. It’s magic, darling, real magic!

Keep on Twirling

Well, my lovely ladies, that’s it for today! It’s been an amazing trip filled with dancing, historical delights, delectable food, and the infectious energy of Rome. Next week, I’m off to explore more hidden gems in Rome. I promise to share even more pink-tastic moments from this beautiful city, filled with the spirit of dancing and a dash of pink magic.

Keep those tutus twirling!

Lots of love,

Emma
