Pink Tutu Rome: #1089 ā The Eternal City & My Pink Dream
Hello darlings! It's Wednesday, and you know what that means... it's time for another Pink Tutu blog post! Today, I'm bringing you straight from the heart of Rome, a city overflowing with history, culture, and of course, some fabulously stylish opportunities for this pink tutu-loving ballerina!
I'm just buzzing after arriving here by train, whizzing through the beautiful Italian countryside. The journey was so relaxing - I had a whole carriage to myself, and I even had a little dance down the aisle for the lovely conductor (he even gave me a charmingly cheeky wink!), which always helps liven up a trip, don't you think? You know how I love my train journeys! But anyway, Romeā¦ I'm finally here! And this cityā¦ it's just breath-taking.
So, as you know, I fund all my exciting adventures with ballet. That's right! All the beautiful shows you see in my blog are funded by the hard work I put in every single day. This week I performed at the wonderful Sadlerās Wells Theatre with the lovely Derbyshire Dance company, a real highlight for me.
The Colosseum - Oh So Grand!
My first stop, as it had to be, was the Colosseum. A huge arena that stood before me - impressive, imposing and utterly gorgeous! I felt like I'd stepped back in time, itās a real sight to behold. Imagine the roar of the crowd, the gladiators battling, the chariots racing!
And it goes without saying that I had to slip on my pink tutu for the occasion. Why? Because this little pink dancer needed a touch of whimsical magic, right?! And wouldnāt you know it, I even met a fellow ballet lover, a lovely lady called Lucia, who complimented my pink tutu - what a joy to find a like-minded soul here in Rome! She said she thought it was truly stunning against the Colosseum, and that it gave the place a lovely air of elegance!
A Touch of Fashion and Glam
The day wouldn't be complete without some seriously fabulous shopping! Now, Rome is a true haven for fashion lovers, and I had a wonderful time wandering around the beautiful boutiques, searching for those special finds. From high-end labels to quirky vintage shops, it truly caters to every taste.
You'll be delighted to hear, darling, that I found a whole range of outfits in glorious pink shades to match my tutu! Just imagine the photos I'm going to take - it's going to be a complete visual treat! And if you're in Rome and you love all things pink, I highly recommend a visit to "Fendi" on Via Condotti - oh my, the colours and textures are truly magical.
Trevi Fountain ā Wish Upon a Star
After shopping, I couldnāt resist making a visit to the Trevi Fountain. Such an iconic place - with the sound of water cascading down, and all the beautiful details sculpted into the fountain - itās no wonder it's been featured in so many films.
I know you are all thinking what I was thinking - what to wish for! And of course, it has to be world peace and a life filled with dancing, joy, and ā¦ of courseā¦ a world where every single person wears a pink tutu!
I couldn't resist tossing a coin over my shoulder ā they say if you do, youāll one day return. So I guess youāll be seeing lots more of Rome from me. And, as I dropped my coin, I realised something quite extraordinary - the water's reflection on the stone, created a kind of shimmering pool of pink. It was the most amazing, magical moment!
Dance Dreams - The Roman Ballet
On the evening, it was a true delight to head to the Teatro dell'Opera di Roma, the Roman opera house, to catch a stunning ballet performance. The atmosphere in the theatre was electric - the anticipation in the air! As the orchestra started to play, I felt the rhythm taking hold, and my toes were practically itching for a dance themselves!
The dancers were simply phenomenal - the artistry, the strength, the grace, and their movements so light and delicateā¦ it left me truly speechless. This performance was like a dream, it filled me with joy. Every move spoke to me; it was like they were showing their hearts through the power of dance, And, let me tell you, darling, it's moments like these that truly remind me why I am so passionate about ballet.
Tonightā¦ a Dinner to Remember
After the ballet, it was time for dinner, and oh my, this is where Rome really charmed me! My Italian is still pretty rudimentary, but I managed to get by (with some lovely smiles and lots of gesturing!) at a local trattoria. You know I love a good chat with the locals! And their recommendation was divine! - itās going to be a ācarbonaraā, a simple dish but absolutely delicious and an absolute Italian classic, and some divine spaghetti, of course! I even shared a bottle of prosecco, the bubbles, the pinkā¦ perfect.
Final Thoughts - Pink Dreams & Roman Charm
Rome has truly captured my heart - its stunning history, its vibrant energy, the enchanting cobbled streets... and of course, those gorgeous shops filled with beautiful fashion. But what truly makes Rome so special, I think, are the warm and friendly locals, the smiles on everyone's faces, the warmth of the people who have welcomed me to their city with such open arms. It's such an inspiring place, don't you think? And what a perfect ending to a truly delightful day.
Oh, and if you're wondering where my next adventures will take me ā I'm planning a trip to Florence next week, where I'll be visiting more beautiful sights, exploring the world of fashion, and enjoying even more ballet performances - Iāve heard that Florence has a truly phenomenal opera house. Can't wait! I know thereās so much more to see, experience, and capture for my beloved Pink Tutu readers.
Until then, keep those toes tappinā, darlings! And, please - go forth and spread the pink! Itās time to embrace the magic of tutus.
XOXO, Emma www.pink-tutu.com
