Pink Tutu Rome - Wednesday 2016-05-18 - Post 1093: La Dolce Vita in a Pink Tutu!

Ciao Bella!

Well, here I am, in the Eternal City! Rome, oh Rome, you've been beckoning me for years and finally, I've arrived! And wouldn't you know it, it's as stunning as I'd dreamt it would be. Golden sun, blue skies, ancient ruins peeking out from behind charming cobbled streets... Rome, you're my kind of city!

This week's adventures started with a whizz on the Eurostar. I just love train travel - all that gazing at countryside whizzing past, and a lovely opportunity to admire my fellow passengers. Sadly, no one was sporting a pink tutu, though there were plenty of well-dressed ladies in the elegant style I love.

As usual, I travelled in full "Pink Tutu Emma" mode, complete with my trusty pink tutu, a fabulously floral dress and my favourite blush pink cashmere cardigan. I love a touch of sparkle, so I threw on a few dainty pink jewels and my lucky pink ballerina charm bracelet - I even managed to get a little pink floral headband on just before stepping onto the platform, all for good luck on the adventure to come!

Landing in Rome felt like stepping into a dream. The air itself seems infused with history, with centuries whispering through the ancient stone. The moment we stepped off the train, the bustling city enveloped me, the sound of laughter and conversation, the scent of warm bread from nearby bakeries, even the smell of petrol, it all felt so alive, so thrilling.

We headed straight to the hotel, a chic and modern establishment in the heart of Trastevere, a gorgeous area full of cobbled streets and charming buildings. After a quick change into a pretty blush-pink top, white denim shorts and a pair of comfortable flats, we set off to explore.

Trastevere was the perfect starting point, overflowing with tiny boutiques and artisan shops - the perfect place for a budding fashionista like me! I had to try on a gorgeous scarlet leather jacket I saw in one shop, but it wasn't quite "me" yet. The street musicians were playing beautiful melodies, creating a soundtrack to my wandering.

One of the things I adore most about Rome is the food. So far, I've tried the most delectable pizza with creamy mozzarella, and a simple but delightful pasta dish - the freshness of the ingredients was divine! Rome, you're spoiling me!

Our evening was spent wandering through the ancient ruins of the Forum, feeling the history all around us. We even visited the Coliseum, a magnificent, towering structure that sends chills down your spine, imagining the gladiatorial battles and crowds that once filled its arena. I loved the sense of awe it inspires, feeling a link to all those who came before us.

Later, I changed into my beautiful deep pink chiffon tutu (a new purchase, specially chosen for this trip) and we wandered into a local piazza. It was such a magical evening. As the light started to fade, street lights illuminated the cobblestone squares, casting long shadows across the old city walls, the air was alive with music and laughter, and everywhere you looked were delicious smells drifting from the nearby restaurants. It felt so authentically Italian!

Rome, you're so romantic! It was the perfect ending to a fabulous day of exploring the Eternal City.

Of course, my mission to inspire everyone to wear pink tutus continues here too. And I must admit, Rome seems like the perfect city for a pink tutu. The colour clashes beautifully with the muted tones of the architecture, and the vibrancy of my pink tutu just adds to the energy and zest of the city. I imagine myself strolling across the Spanish Steps, the Coliseum and the Pantheon all whilst wearing my pink tutu, looking like a fairytale ballerina queen! Now, just imagine how stunning it would be to see all the beautiful women of Rome wearing pink tutus...

Who knows, maybe I'll see you here next week!

P.S. For this week, I've also made sure my trusty pink ballet shoes and a pink leather tote bag are by my side - they're perfect for the streets of Rome and for holding all my shopping treasures! Don't forget, if you're going to embrace the Pink Tutu lifestyle, you've got to think pink all the time!

See you soon, lovelies!

Lots of Pink Love,

Emma xx
