Pink Tutu Rome: #1120
Ciao Bella! It's Wednesday, which means it's time for another Pink Tutu Rome post! This week I'm sharing all about my adventures in the Eternal City, a place I've dreamt of visiting since I was a little girl, dreaming of gladiators and fountains!
This trip was funded by a magical performance at the Derby Playhouse, where I swirled and pirouetted to a standing ovation in a shimmering, cerise-hued tutu. Nothing like a bit of sparkly dance magic to fuel my travel adventures, don't you think?
I love travelling by train, it's so romantic. I settled into my comfy carriage, snuggled amongst my tulle and sequins, my heart thumping with excitement as the scenery whizzed past. It felt like a scene from a movie, only with much more pink!
My first stop? The Trevi Fountain, of course! Imagine, a fountain dripping with shimmering water, stories whispered into the air by pigeons, and a magical backdrop of ancient Roman history! The first thing I did, as tradition dictates, was to toss a coin into the fountain - wishing with all my might to return to Rome one day, perhaps wearing a different tutu each time! I mean, who doesn't want to wear a hot pink tulle explosion while admiring the Colosseum?!
Speaking of hot pink, this week, Rome, I brought a delightful surprise with me - my limited-edition “Rose Petal” tutu. Think soft blush, flowing fabric, and a touch of whimsy, just begging for a romantic stroll under the Roman sky! It really was a beautiful day to wear it.
Now, who could forget about The Pantheon, one of the most iconic and beautiful buildings I've ever laid eyes on! I swear I felt a shiver down my spine as I walked through those majestic marble doors! I must say, my Rose Petal tutu felt right at home in the architectural masterpiece! The way the light danced through the oculus, it was just like being on stage!
On that same note, let's talk about the Teatro dell'Opera di Roma. Oh, how I dreamed of experiencing an opera under the Roman sky! As soon as I arrived, I took to the streets in search of the perfect ballet-inspired outfit. Think silky satin, soft pleats, and of course, a sprinkle of glitter! After all, there's no such thing as too much sparkle!
The evening was truly magical! The performance was a beautiful display of movement and emotion, each delicate step echoing the romance and history of this incredible city. And as always, I twirled and twirled with glee - it wouldn't be a Pink Tutu adventure without a little dance!
And while I was captivated by the performance, the highlight of the night had to be the elegant costumes and impeccable tailoring. Just look at my Instagram!
Speaking of impeccable style, I simply HAD to visit some of Rome's iconic fashion houses! My first stop? The incredible Via Condotti, home to some of the world's most luxurious labels. Think flowing silks, stunning shoes, and handbags that practically whisper "Italian glamour"! While I didn't buy anything (sorry, wallet!), I just had to soak in the atmosphere of this high fashion haven!
After a morning of luxury, I headed off to Campo de' Fiori, the heart of Rome's bustling food market! I felt like a little girl in a candy shop! All these delicious scents of herbs and spices, the colour of vibrant fruits and vegetables! I even sampled some delicious pasta, handmade with love by a local family! It’s the little things, isn’t it?
Then, to wrap up the week, it was back to my little Pink Tutu Rome nest. It was a beautiful, little studio apartment right next to a hidden, charming Italian bakery - and yes, I had to try their famous pistachio tarts! After a long day of exploring and shopping, nothing could be better than curling up with a book and a sweet treat!
Now, I've got some news: I'm back in Derbyshire, where life is about to get a little pinker than usual! I'm teaching a workshop next week, called "Pink Tutu Magic - Finding your Inner Ballerina", open to all ages and all shapes and sizes! So come along, don't be shy, grab a pink tutu, and join the fun! Because we all know, life's too short for plain clothing!
