Pink Tutu Rome: #1122 – Exploring the Eternal City in a Whirl of Pink!

Ciao, darlings!

This week finds me in the heart of Rome, a city that is, frankly, breathtakingly beautiful. The ancient history, the cobblestone streets, the bustling piazzas... and the delicious food – don't even get me started on the food! But even with all this glorious grandeur, there's one thing that hasn't changed – my unwavering commitment to my signature style. That's right, my Pink Tutu is back, and she's twirling her way through the Eternal City with gusto!

A Train to Rome, a Tutu to Explore

I took the train, of course – such a wonderful, romantic way to travel! You can really soak in the scenery, especially when your train takes you past beautiful countryside like the one I saw coming through the Alps. It’s such a luxurious way to arrive in Rome, and once I was at Termini Station, all that was left was to grab a cab, find my charming little boutique hotel in Trastevere, and – of course – get dressed for an evening of Italian wonder!

Now, when I say get dressed, what I really mean is get dressed for ballet! Tonight is the night! After a little detour for the most amazing pizza in Rome (more about that later!), I'm heading off to see a performance at Teatro dell’Opera di Roma. It's going to be a spectacular display of classic ballet – and I'm bringing my A-game with a beautiful pink tulle skirt and a shimmering diamond choker, paired with a pair of gorgeous cherry red shoes. Rome has always been about classic beauty, and I'm channelling the city's magic into my outfit, darlings.

The Eternal City, through Pink Tinted Lenses

You know, I think it’s fair to say that I’ve fallen head over heels for Rome. It’s everything I imagined – a mix of ancient and modern, with a vibrant artistic spirit. It's so romantic!

Here are some of the highlights so far:

  • The Trevi Fountain: Honestly, even on the busiest day of the year, this fountain is truly enchanting. It’s so inspiring to just stand and stare at it – you can almost hear the whisper of centuries of stories and dreams. I made a wish of course, with the coins thrown over my shoulder. (I can’t say what it is – it’s a secret!)
  • The Colosseum: I actually got goosebumps when I saw the Colosseum for the first time. This place is more than just ancient history - it's a tangible testament to the spirit and resilience of humanity. Imagine the people, the stories, the dramas that happened there. It's enough to make you gasp!
  • The Pantheon: This magnificent monument to Roman architecture is awe-inspiring! I spent an hour just soaking up its beauty – every column, every arch, every detail of its perfect form is pure artistry.

But it’s not all history and monuments, darling! I'm making sure to savor the incredible food culture here in Rome. So far, I've sampled the best pizza of my life at this little gem of a trattoria, tried the most amazing tiramisu ever (heavenly!), and found a small gelateria that makes the most exquisite pistachio ice cream you can imagine!

Rome’s Fashion Scene:

I'm not just here for sightseeing, I'm here for the fashion, too! Rome is definitely one of my favourite European cities when it comes to fashion. I spent an afternoon just wandering through the high-end boutiques in the Monti neighborhood, finding everything from exquisite leather handbags to beautiful vintage scarves. The Italians really do have an incredible sense of style. I picked up a vintage feather boa that would be perfect for my next ballet performance!

And, naturally, I made sure to visit the Roman market stalls! This is where I picked up my stunning cherry red shoes to match my evening outfit. There were some amazing vintage treasures, like a pink embroidered tapestry, and so many interesting fabrics and accessories.

Living life in a pink tutu:

My mission is to bring the world joy through the magic of ballet. Rome is truly helping me to spread the message that life is an elegant dance - even when you’re twirling through history! So much beauty, so much grace, and such wonderful places to wear a pink tutu.

Don’t forget to join me every Wednesday for my #PinkTutuRome journey, darlings! You can also visit my website for even more style inspiration: www.pink-tutu.com!

And, of course, feel free to send me your questions or your favourite Rome memories!

Until next Wednesday, darling!

XOXO, Emma
