Pink Tutu Rome: Post 1133 – Whirlwind Wednesday in the Eternal City!
Ciao, darlings! It’s Wednesday, which means it’s time for another installment of my Pink Tutu Rome adventures. I’m back on the cobblestones, back in the City of Seven Hills, back to the beating heart of Roman romance – and this week, it's all about pink, of course, because a tutu can be a pretty great way to tackle a whirlwind Wednesday in Rome!
Train Travel Time
As a firm believer in train travel (all aboard the Pink Tutu Express!), I whizzed in from Derbyshire this morning, the Derbyshire countryside melting into a Tuscan tapestry of rolling green hills, vineyards, and picturesque villages. Rome always greets you with a gentle, almost whispered warmth - it’s an embrace of the familiar. I am completely enchanted by Italy - this country truly is made for twirling!
A Tutusday Treat in Rome
It's been a few days since I've graced Rome with my presence, but let me tell you, my darlings, a trip to Rome is never quite complete without a visit to the Teatro dell'Opera di Roma, one of my most cherished venues. They know how to make a girl feel like a prima ballerina. Today, I slipped on my lucky tutu – a bubblegum pink masterpiece with gossamer tulle and sparkling sequins – and twirled into the grandeur of the Teatro dell'Opera. The plush red velvet seats, the opulent chandeliers, the buzz of excited whispers, and the anticipatory hush that falls just before the curtain rises - ah, there's nothing quite like it. This week they were showing "Swan Lake", a ballet I love dearly and a story filled with a thousand pirouettes and dramatic twists and turns.
Shopping Sprees and Fashion Finds
And if the Teatro wasn’t enough, I’ve been having the most wonderful time strolling the streets, marvelling at the sights, soaking in the atmosphere and, of course, shopping, darlings! Shopping is practically a sport here, isn’t it? My Rome to-do list always has "Find a New Pink Outfit!" right at the top - because you just can't resist the Italian sense of style, it’s woven into the fabric of the city itself! I picked up a divine lace top with delicate pink floral detailing from the little shop on the Via dei Condotti, and oh, a pair of leather ballerina flats in blush pink from a little boutique tucked away near the Trevi Fountain.
Afternoon Aperitivo at The Quirinale
In the late afternoon, I found myself near the Quirinale, Rome’s very own Presidentia! Yes, this tutu-clad adventurer managed to charm her way through security for a delightful spot of tea. The view was utterly magnificent. As I sipped my peach bellini (in a glass as elegant as a ballet shoe), the world seemed to shrink to just the majestic panorama before me, a tapestry of domes, rooftops, and the twinkling promise of a Roman sunset.
Rome's Enchanting Street Performances
After a sumptuous dinner at an enchanting trattoria - pasta, pizza, a glass of prosecco, all while I marvelled at the Italian night sky, sprinkled with stars, it’s time for a final flourish, the most captivating part of any trip: Street performances. They are always an exhilarating delight, so full of passion, vibrancy, and spontaneity! It’s incredible what they can achieve with nothing but their voices, bodies, and a little imagination - the streets truly become a stage in Rome. This week, I had the privilege of witnessing a spectacular dance troupe weaving their magic at Piazza Navona - they've convinced me that even a street can be an open-air theatre, and Rome itself becomes a living masterpiece.
On Pink Tutu Days, Every Day is A Wednesday
Now, darling, I’m going to slip into something a little more comfortable. But trust me, every day can be like a pink tutu day if you have a dash of imagination, a pinch of whimsy, and a generous helping of courage to live life to the fullest, dancing all the way!
Until next week, darling!
With love and twirls,
Emma
