Well, darlings, here I am in glorious Rome, the eternal city! My heart is practically doing a pirouette in my chest as I type this from the cutest little cafe, all pastel colours and flowers, just like my wardrobe! This week's blog post is extra special because I've finally reached Italy. I've been dreaming about this trip since I first watched Fellini's "La Dolce Vita" as a little girl, giggling at Marcello Mastroianni in that iconic opening scene (a definite must-watch for any aspiring tutu-wearer, by the way!).
My journey was a blast! As always, I made my way across the channel on Eurostar – travelling by train is such a charming and romantic way to get around. And of course, my tutu made a guest appearance. I paired it with a hot pink bomber jacket, a classic black turtleneck, and my favourite Mary Janes - just the perfect look for an elegant intercity commute. Let's face it, darling, a girl has to look stylish even when travelling.
A Pink Tutu in the Eternal City
First impressions of Rome? Simply breathtaking! It’s everything I imagined and more. The Colosseum is just mind-boggling – its sheer scale leaves you speechless, even for a tutu-wearing ballerina! I wandered through the Roman Forum, soaking in the ancient grandeur. It was amazing to think about the history swirling around me. Everywhere I turned, I was surrounded by awe-inspiring architecture, breathtaking history and an energy I could literally feel coursing through the city streets. I’m certain my pink tutu is feeling as excited about exploring this amazing city as I am!
Speaking of the Roman Forum, I did my best pirouette under the arches! The sound of my tulle skirt twirling was music to my ears – think of it as a tribute to all those famous gladiators, only with more grace and definitely more pink! I know some people might think it's a bit eccentric, wearing a pink tutu in such a historic setting, but hey, I’m all about expressing my inner ballerina and adding a touch of fun to everything I do! And besides, wouldn't it be nice to bring a bit of colour and joy to this old, ancient city? Don’t judge until you’ve tried it, darlings!
Tutus and Theatres
Rome is an absolute theatre-lover's dream! After a delicious, perfectly Italian lunch - spaghetti carbonara, anyone? - I stumbled upon a delightful little theatre tucked away in a side street. I simply HAD to go inside and admire the worn velvet seats and ornate carvings – the whole experience felt like stepping back in time! The atmosphere was positively electric – you could just imagine the applause echoing off those very same walls throughout history. I can already feel myself drawing inspiration for a new tutu-inspired performance. Just think of it, my darlings: the Roman Forum, the Colosseum, even the city's historic theatre all playing a part in a beautiful, swirling, pink tutu dance!
And wouldn't it be glorious to see an Italian ballet, with its expressive, fiery movements and passion? Imagine the tulle skirts swirling against the backdrop of Roman ruins! Just thinking about it sets my toes to tapping and my tutu skirt aflutter. It’s all too perfect! I’ve been searching high and low for the most elegant tutus in all of Rome to capture the spirit of this fabulous city - the search is on for that perfect, exquisitely pink tutu to adorn my dancing form. Rome, you are such a dream!
A Tutu-Tastic Shopping Spree
It’s no secret that Rome is a shopping paradise, darlings! After my exciting explorations, I ventured into one of the city's charming boutiques for a little tutu-inspired shopping. Now, I’m a sucker for pretty things and nothing excites me more than a good clothes-buying spree. And let me tell you, Rome has got some real gems tucked away. I found a pink vintage brocade bag, perfectly fitting for all my theatrical escapades – I just couldn't leave without it. I think it deserves a little Instagram photoshoot with my favourite new, sparkling pink, and oh-so-fabulous tutu. It was destined to be, darling! The perfect way to finish off a day of sightseeing!
A Pink Tutu’s Wish
Tonight, I'm planning on experiencing the magic of the Roman evening, and there’s just one thing I haven't quite decided yet – should I wear my latest pink tulle masterpiece or save it for a special occasion? You know me, I do love a little drama!
Rome has awakened my ballerina spirit. It feels like this city is already inspiring me to create a brand new dance piece! It might have a hint of ancient history, a hint of Italian drama and definitely a whole lot of pink, because what would a Pink Tutu adventure be without it? Rome, I am truly, utterly smitten!
