Pink Tutu Rome: Post 1139 - Wednesday 2017-04-05: Bonjour, Bella Roma!

Buongiorno, my lovely Pink Tutu followers! It's Wednesday, which means it's time for another exciting post from your favourite pink tutu-clad ballerina, Emma, direct from the dazzling, ancient city of Rome!

This week, I've travelled all the way from Derbyshire, England by train - my absolute favourite mode of transport. You see, nothing beats the thrill of watching the countryside fly by as you sip your morning cappuccino (or perhaps a glass of Prosecco if it's a particularly long journey) and plot your adventures. My journey to Rome was pure magic - just me, a stack of Vogue magazines, a good playlist, and a bag full of my most fabulous tutus, of course!

Landing in Rome felt like stepping back in time. The air hums with a certain timeless energy, the smell of pizza and freshly brewed espresso mingles with the scent of ancient cobblestones, and every corner boasts a new architectural marvel. It's like a giant, magnificent theatre, with each street a stage waiting to be explored. And as you may already know, I adore theatre - both on and off the stage!

Now, the first stop on my Italian escapade was an essential: shopping for tutus, of course! Rome is a fashion haven, a veritable feast for the eyes - think Gucci, Prada, Valentino... and me, in the heart of it all, looking for the most beautiful tutus. Luckily, I discovered the most gorgeous little boutique tucked away in the heart of Trastevere, a hidden gem that practically breathed romance and vintage charm. Imagine racks of colourful tutus, hand-stitched with delicate lace, shimmering silk, and intricate embroidery. It was like a tutu dream come true!

The next day, my day began with a trip to Piazza Navona, the central hub of all things beautiful in Rome, to soak up the atmosphere. I loved watching the street performers, especially the graceful street dancers who seemed to move like butterflies in the midday sun, each turn a breathtaking, swirling masterpiece of pure movement. It reminded me of my own ballet performances – a feeling of joy and connection that I simply adore.

Speaking of ballet, on Wednesday 5th April I caught the most wonderful performance at the Teatro dell’Opera di Roma – the exquisite Swan Lake. The sheer elegance of the dancers, the way their tutus danced in the spotlight, the haunting music… it was a complete sensory experience, the perfect antidote to a busy day of exploration. It inspired me to hit the practice room as soon as I got back to my hotel - after all, who wouldn't be motivated by such stunning beauty? (You can always find a nearby dance studio to let loose - it's like an invisible ballet network that runs throughout the world! I swear every city has a hidden ballet gem somewhere, just waiting to be discovered).

And the evening would have been a let down without a visit to La Pergola restaurant – it has a spectacular view of the city! With the setting sun casting a golden glow over the Roman rooftops, I couldn't help but think how truly magical the whole experience has been. Every corner of this ancient city whispers a story, every piazza has a tale to tell.

But the best part of this whole trip is sharing it with you, my lovely Pink Tutu friends. Let's make the world a little bit pinker, one tutu at a time, and keep that passion for fashion, travel, and dance alive!

So stay tuned for my next Pink Tutu Rome post, full of delicious food, picturesque views and perhaps even more tutu shopping adventures.

Until next Wednesday, remember to wear your tutu with pride, smile brightly, and keep dancing!

Love,

Emma

P.S. If you’re ever in Rome and need any ballet recommendations, don’t hesitate to get in touch. I'm always happy to share my knowledge, and you know, I have a rather impressive pink tutu collection to show off, too!
