Pink Tutu Rome: #1142 - La Dolce Vita in a Pink Tutu! 🩰🇮🇹

Ciao bella! It's Wednesday, which means it's time for another Pink Tutu adventure, this time from the heart of Rome, Italy! The air is buzzing with history, the sun is warm on my skin (despite the April showers we’ve been having), and the scent of fresh pastries fills every street corner. Yep, Rome has certainly captured my heart… and my tummy! 😉

I’ve been here for a whole week now, living the dolce vita in a pink tutu of course! The locals definitely do a double take, but they’ve all been so welcoming. I’ve even had a few men try to teach me some Italian phrases, bless them. I’m trying to pick it up as quickly as I can, but the language is a bit tricky! Luckily, I’ve had my trusty Italian-English dictionary with me at all times.

Speaking of being prepared, the trains here are excellent! I’m absolutely in love with Italian train travel. There's something magical about whizzing through the countryside, past rolling hills and charming villages. I've definitely found my inner Cary Grant – I just need the suave tuxedo! 🤵‍♂️ But for now, the tutu will have to do.

I arrived in Rome last Wednesday, kicking off my adventure with a stay at the Hotel Bernini Bristol. It's in a fabulously chic neighbourhood near the Spanish Steps. My room was delightful, with a huge, fluffy bed that was perfect for my pre-performance stretching routine. I also managed to sneak a peek at the balcony – hello, view of Rome! 🏙️

My first Roman night was spent at the Teatro dell'Opera di Roma, of course! Seeing the Coppélia ballet was utterly breathtaking. The dancers were simply sensational – their movements so graceful and fluid. I've definitely got some new moves to add to my repertoire!

Friday was all about the Colosseum – you simply cannot come to Rome without seeing this incredible piece of history! I actually stumbled across a ballet performance taking place inside the Colosseum - imagine, dancing amidst ancient ruins! It was surreal. They were performing a piece inspired by ancient Rome, so fittingly. They were wearing all sorts of intricate, flowing costumes and there was something so magical about being inside the arena where gladiators once fought. It's something I’ll never forget.

Pink Tutu Styling: Fashioning Roman Flair!

One of my absolute favourite things about Rome is the style! From the intricate details of ancient Roman architecture to the sleek designs of contemporary fashion, Rome is bursting with inspiration. It’s been so much fun adding a splash of Pink Tutu flair to the city's style. My go-to outfit? A delicate tulle tutu in a shade of rose pink, paired with a simple, flowy white blouse and elegant gold sandals. The look is chic, feminine, and definitely a statement!

This city's got so many incredible shops, but one that I loved was Emilio Pucci in Via Condotti. The patterns, the colours! It was a dream! I ended up with a pair of silk gloves – I figured a touch of shimmer wouldn't hurt in this fashion-forward city! 🧤

Food, Glorious Food!

The food here is another reason why I’m head-over-heels for Rome! From the delicious pasta and pizzas to the delectable pastries, there's something for everyone. And the gelato?! Absolutely heavenly. I'm making a mission to try every flavour! 🍨

On my culinary journey, I’ve already sampled a divine plate of Cacio e Pepe, the most incredible cheesy pasta that’s become an Italian staple. I also fell in love with Panzanella – a delicious salad made with fresh tomatoes, bread and balsamic vinegar, perfect for a hot Italian summer day. And who can forget the pizza Margherita – a classic Italian staple that will always have a special place in my heart.

More to Explore!

This week has flown by, but I’m looking forward to what’s in store for the rest of my stay! Next week, I plan to explore the Trevi Fountain, have a picnic by the River Tiber, and learn how to make the perfect cup of espresso. I'm even considering signing up for a ballet class in a beautiful outdoor studio I found on a little cobbled street. 🩰

Stay tuned, darling tutus! My next Pink Tutu Rome adventure will be full of fashion, food and hopefully, some Italian ballet lessons! Ciao!

Until next week…
