Buongiorno, darlings! It's Wednesday, which means it's time for another Pink Tutu Rome blog post! I'm so excited to be back in the Eternal City, a place that just radiates with history, culture and, of course, exquisite fashion.
I arrived in Rome just a few days ago, hopping on a glorious train journey from Derbyshire. I'm a bit of a train fanatic, and the Eurostar always gets me feeling super glam, especially when I'm wearing my trusty pink tutu. You know me, always spreading the pink tutu love, even on the go!
Now, before I get swept away by the Roman charm, I want to rewind to the reason I'm able to be here, waltzing through cobbled streets and marveling at magnificent architecture. That's right, my lovelies, I’ve just finished a ballet performance! We brought "Giselle" to life, twirling and pirouetting our way into the hearts of the audience, and that wonderful feeling of accomplishment is just the boost I need to take on Rome. It’s magical being able to follow my passion for dance, travel and all things pink.
The journey to Rome was simply beautiful. Watching the countryside unfold outside my window as the train whisked me through lush landscapes and charming villages was truly magical. Every journey is an adventure, a chance to lose yourself in the scenery and let your imagination take flight. Speaking of which, this city is definitely sparking some major fashion inspiration!
As soon as I stepped off the train, the vibrant energy of Rome hit me like a warm breeze. Everywhere I looked, from the bustling streets to the majestic ancient buildings, there was a feeling of timeless elegance, paired with a modern flair. It’s all about mixing textures and bold prints, making even the most basic of outfits feel chic. It’s something I love about Rome: the effortlessly chic style that’s so effortless yet so full of personality!
Now, it’s time to talk about the food! This isn’t a fashion blog for nothing, though… ahem, I think this is the perfect time to mention how every dish feels like a masterpiece here. Pasta al dente with a perfect creamy sauce, pizzas bubbling with cheesy goodness and mouthwatering gelato that explodes with flavor - Rome is a feast for all the senses! But let's not forget the importance of my Pink Tutu… I’ve been making it a habit to wear it wherever I go in Rome, pairing it with outfits that blend the contemporary and traditional - a vintage lace dress, a modern tailored jacket, a simple yet stunning top paired with some fabulous gladiator sandals!
First stop: Piazza Navona! As soon as I stepped into this buzzing piazza, the historical architecture felt like it was plucked from a fairytale. It's a hub of artistry and culture, and you can’t miss the incredible Bernini fountain - it truly embodies the romance of Rome. I grabbed a gelato and sat for ages, people-watching and soaking up the energy of this breathtaking location.
Second stop: The Colosseum. You simply can't come to Rome without visiting this iconic landmark. It's awe-inspiring! I can only imagine the events that unfolded within its walls centuries ago - a true spectacle! Standing within its shadow, I felt a sense of history, and it truly transported me back in time.
Next: A trip to the Pantheon, another awe-inspiring feat of architecture. The Roman Empire really had some brilliant engineers! You can't help but be captivated by its sheer size, elegance and historical significance. Its breathtaking beauty made me feel both humbled and inspired, like I’d walked onto a movie set, all about ancient grandeur!
Later this week I have so much planned. Tomorrow, I’ll be spending some time wandering the winding lanes of Trastevere. This part of the city feels so bohemian, and I love how its history is infused with the trendy buzz of cafes, art galleries, shops, and of course, more gelato. I'm even thinking about popping in to some vintage stores to see what little treasures I can find to inspire my outfits.
What I’m loving about Rome:
The Architecture: Every corner holds a piece of history and artistry that makes me feel like I’ve been transported to another world. From ancient Roman ruins to charming cobblestone streets and majestic fountains, Rome truly embodies beauty in its purest form.
The Shopping: I love how you can find both high-end fashion and unique artisan crafts here in Rome. There are little shops with handcrafted jewellery, designer boutiques with the latest trends and, of course, incredible markets for the perfect souvenirs!
The Gelato: Have I mentioned the gelato? Seriously, this gelato is on another level! You have to try all the flavours, because each one is an explosion of deliciousness. It’s such a perfect treat for any day, especially on a warm summer evening!
