Pink Tutu Rome: Ciao Bella! (Post #1156)

Wednesday 2017-08-02

Hello gorgeous girly-girls! It's Wednesday and you know what that means! Another dazzling pink tutu adventure awaits - this time, right here from the cobblestone streets of Rome!

Did you know Rome is nicknamed "The Eternal City"? It's so breathtakingly beautiful it feels like stepping into an ancient fairytale. Imagine grand, historic buildings, dazzling fountains, and ancient ruins all wrapped in a sun-kissed warmth, the air buzzing with life. Oh, and did I mention the gelato? Drools. I can practically hear the little "clink" of my spoon hitting the creamy perfection of a pistachio flavour gelato right now! But before you all get too jealous, let's start at the beginning…

How did I get here?

As always, my adventures begin with a journey. I simply adore train travel. It's all about the chic Parisian vibes, a spot by the window with my nose in a book, the comfy seat, and the soft clinking rhythm of the tracks as the train picks up speed. This week, it was a speedy journey from Derby - where my family and my little ballet studio are based - down to sunny London, then hop onto the Eurostar and whoosh! I was off to Roma Termini station! The journey, like the city itself, was bursting with romance, intrigue and a whole heap of sparkle.

Day 1 in Rome - Bonjour to Bellezza

After settling in at my charming hotel, it was time to soak in the energy of this fabulous city. You all know me and my love for the iconic streets of Rome! It was simply irresistible to hit up the world famous Spanish Steps, that grand staircase leading up to the breathtaking Trinita dei Monti church.

A must-do for any tutu-loving fashionista? The incredible Valentino boutique - and oh my gosh - did they have some dazzling clothes, bags and shoes. I can't wait to show you all my incredible pink tulle skirt (the colour is called “Tulipa Rosa" and is totally dreamy), I'll be rocking that back home!

After all that retail therapy, a well-deserved scoop of gelato was needed. It's definitely not all about shopping you know. I did stop for a "Gelato rosa" (pink gelato!) too!

Day 2: Ballet, Pasta & Fountains!

Rome was simply calling me to dance! A little research, a few messages, and presto! - a chance to take a masterclass with a lovely ballet teacher in a small, traditional Italian ballet studio tucked away in a quiet alley. Oh the feeling of turning in the studio was bliss. I’m still trying to find the perfect “roma blush" lip colour to match my pink tulle ballerina dress. Do you have any tips? Comment below!

The day also called for a proper pasta feast at a local trattoria – and trust me, the gnocchi was out of this world! But no trip to Rome is complete without a trip to the Trevi Fountain - and I had to throw in a coin, so hopefully this will guarantee my return to the City of Love very soon!

Day 3: The Colosseum!

Imagine yourself, dear readers, standing within the ruins of one of the most iconic buildings in the world! The Colosseum was breathtaking, such a beautiful piece of history, and you could just feel the weight of it all. A little history and art in the midst of so much fabulous fashion? You've got it, doll!

To top off the day, we dined al fresco in a bustling trattoria surrounded by charming Roman street performers and even the sweetest Italian serenader, who had my heart melting with a charming Italian song. It was absolutely delightful.

Pink Tutu Style Notes!

  • My Roma wardrobe: Pink tutu and leotard of course (with matching pink tulle ballerina flats, duh!), flowy midi skirts, chic polka-dot tops, comfy denim shorts, and the cutest espadrilles with pink flowers!
  • A statement necklace for lunch at that trattoria? The pink tulle ballerina ribbon around my neck, tied into a gorgeous bow, with a vintage cameo locket from a charming boutique I found near the Spanish Steps!
  • And, don't forget the perfect Rome-inspired hair accessory – a pink silk headscarf tucked into a ballerina bun!

What did I do this Wednesday?

I discovered the hidden gems in a stunning rose garden just outside the bustling city, a place bursting with beauty, quietness, and the scent of a thousand roses. It was like being swept away to a fairytale, only better! The perfect peaceful end to a fabulously pink week in Rome. And of course, after all that fun and excitement, there is a very delicious pizza awaiting!

See you next Wednesday for another exciting adventure!
