Pink Tutu Rome: #1165 - October 4th 2017

Ciao bella!

This week, I'm writing to you from the Eternal City, Rome! After weeks of planning and, let's be honest, copious amounts of pink tutu packing, I've finally arrived in this glorious Italian city, and I'm ready to share my adventures with you all.

First things first - you know how much I love train journeys! My adventure started with a whirlwind journey from my home in Derbyshire, with a stopover in the bright lights of London, before a rather fabulous high-speed train to the heart of Rome. I have to say, nothing beats that feeling of settling into a train journey, tucking into a delicious baguette with lashings of Brie (pink is, after all, my favourite colour!), and simply letting the scenery flow by. The train journey itself felt like a mini-ballet - a beautiful ballet of landscapes and rolling hills.

Now, you all know my passion is pink, tutus and everything in between. But the real heart of this blog is my quest: to get the entire world dancing in a pink tutu. And Rome? Rome is brimming with the kind of history, fashion, and passion that fuels this mission.

Today's post is going to be a whirl of colour and delight, as I embark on a Roman adventure. Weā€™re starting with a classic - The Colosseum. Let's just say I've already imagined myself twirling in a pink tutu, with the magnificent amphitheatre as my backdrop. Talk about dramatic! Who knew ancient Rome was so "Pink Tutu" friendly?

Speaking of ā€˜dramatic,ā€™ this week weā€™re lucky to have a special treat. Rome has the greatest range of ballet performances that Iā€™ve seen, and I'm excited to see the Ballet Teatro di Roma's production of Romeo and Juliet. Just thinking about Romeo's despair and Juliet's anguish is enough to inspire a truly emotional, sweeping performance.

There's nothing I love more than experiencing different cultures, soaking in the atmosphere and the buzz of the streets, all while discovering amazing little independent boutiques. Rome, of course, is an absolute gem for shopping. I've already found a gorgeous little shop that smells of old leather and is full of beautifully crafted ballet shoes and tutus, some with delicate ribbons inā€¦ you guessed itā€¦ the most magnificent shades of pink.

Of course, Iā€™m going to be sharing all my favourite Italian fashion finds with you in my upcoming posts - think decadent velvet dresses, exquisite handmade jewellery and the cutest Italian accessories. And the shoes! Iā€™ve been eyeing up the most glorious platform pumps ā€“ I imagine them perfectly paired with a bright, bubblegum pink tutu!

I'm already thinking about where my tutu will take me next. Tomorrow I'm thinking about visiting the Trevi Fountain - surely a little twirl in the shade of that iconic monument wouldn't go amiss, wouldn't you agree? And thenā€¦ let's just say there's a delicious pink ice cream shop on my listā€¦ and a pizza place. (Did someone say a ā€˜pizzaā€™?!).

Rome truly has it all - incredible history, delicious food, beautiful fashion and - I am so very excited about this ā€“ a truly incredible and vibrant ballet scene. So, stay tuned for next weekā€™s post ā€“ Iā€™ve got a sneak peek of some fabulous performance pics to show you! In the meantime, follow along on www.pink-tutu.com to see what pink adventures await me in the heart of Rome!

See you next Wednesday!

Ciao!

Emma
