Pink Tutu Rome #1169 - Ciao Bella!

Well hello lovelies! This week on Pink Tutu it's all about Rome! My latest adventures are happening right here in this glorious, sun-drenched city, and oh my, has it been fabulous!

Now, letā€™s rewind to a few days ago, picture a Derbyshire girl, her trusty suitcase bursting with sparkly things, boarding a Eurostar train in London. Excitement, let me tell you, is an understatement. Itā€™s not every day a tutu-clad ballet girl gets to spend a week exploring the wonders of the Eternal City!

My recent performance in the ā€œNutcrackerā€ at the Nottingham Royal Concert Hall, let's just say, made my travel dreams come true! Thank you so much to everyone who came to see the show! Your support meant the world to me and definitely put a little extra oomph into my steps! The applause? Pure magic, and absolutely helped me book this Rome escapade. So, thank you!

Rome! Rome! Rome!

My hotel, oh my goodness, is pure dreamy pinkness! Just picture a classic Italian balcony overlooking a quaint cobblestone street and an open space for pirouettes. Every room comes complete with a dressing table for prepping all my pink pretties. Seriously, who knew finding such a perfect space would be so easy!

For todayā€™s blog post, I thought Iā€™d share all the fabulous things Iā€™ve seen, done, and most importantly, wore, during my first day. The most important thing is always staying true to myself - which, as you know, means wearing the tutu.

Pink and the Colosseum

I woke up super early (thatā€™s the jetlag talking) and immediately made a bee-line for the famous Colosseum. It's massive! A beautiful ancient Roman arena, it made me feel so tiny, in a good way, and gave me some real history-loving chills. Of course, I made sure to twirl on that balcony right by the Forum (just had to share that magical moment!)

Look Of The Day

I chose a classic pastel pink tutu paired with a white lace top, some gorgeous diamante earrings, and a pair of sparkly gold ballet pumps. I wanted to stand out but blend in a bit too, because honestly, the city is just so inspiring. I found this fantastic vintage store filled with pink and vintage lace which just added to the whole whimsical vibe!

Trevi Fountain & A Wish

My afternoon was all about romantic charm. I strolled around the Trevi Fountain and threw in a coin, making my usual wish for an amazing time and more tutu inspiration, of course. It was super romantic - picture the sound of the fountain bubbling, birds chirping, and the sun sparkling on the water.

Gladiator Shoes and Fashion Finds

After my gelato treat (strawberry, of course!), I hopped on the bus (yes, tutus look fab even in public transport - a fact proven to be true again today!) and went exploring a bit further afield.

There are amazing markets in Rome! This little one on my walk had vintage shoes and I'm not even gonna lie... I did try on the coolest gladiators (they kind of reminded me of the Tutu Ballet ā€“ ahem, did I say that out loud?!).

I also bought the most beautiful scarf from a lovely old lady. Itā€™s the most delicious shade of magenta and already made its way into the ā€œPink Tutu Romeā€ Instagram feed - I call it my Roman blush.

Mamma Mia! Shopping, Food and Pink Dreams

I'm sure you know this but Rome has amazing shopping. A massive shopping area called Galleria Alberto Sordi - think endless shopping with designer shoes, clothes, bags and every colour imaginable! There was also a shop filled with colourful ballerina figurines, all beautifully crafted! The shopkeeper even did me a twirling demo.

And to finish the evening off... Italian cuisine - heaven on a plate! Thereā€™s nothing quite like pasta, red wine, and candlelight. Honestly, it felt like one of those classic Italian movie scenes I've always watched. I almost expected the sound of a guitar and someone singing ā€œThatā€™s Amoreā€.

Goodnight from Rome

That brings to the end of day one. It was full of magical moments and a bit of pink heaven. And yes, I know youā€™re all wondering how many people Iā€™ve inspired to wear a tutu here. So far... 1! One lovely woman at a little cafe started talking about the show and before you know it, sheā€™s chatting to me about how beautiful pink is and then it happenedā€¦. a twirl and sheā€™s in a beautiful pale pink outfit!

It may not sound like much, but it means everything. My aim is to spread tutu joy and it is truly wonderful how a pink outfit can start a conversation and lead to more amazing ballet inspired adventures, wherever you are in the world!

I canā€™t wait to share what's to come in my Roman adventures next week - including an authentic pasta making class (with tutus!), an Opera in full sparkle glory, and maybe a little gelato treat or two (who can resist? Definitely not me!). Stay tuned, and remember to stay fabulous, pink and twirling!

Ciao for now,
