Pink Tutu Rome: Ciao Bella! - Post #1170
Wednesday 8th November, 2017
Buongiorno, darlings! Itās your favourite tutu-wearing traveller, Emma, and Iām back with another slice of #PinkTutuRome. Iāve just hopped off the train from the most magical Tuscan adventure and am already feeling the vibrant energy of the Eternal City thrumming beneath my pink satin ballet slippers. Iām not going to lie, I love travelling by train ā something about the clickety-clack of the tracks against the wheels is so relaxing! And the scenery, especially here in Italy, just blows your mind!
This week, Rome has been overflowing with so much colour, culture, and swoon-worthy fashion. It feels like the entire city is gearing up for the āFesta del Cinema di Romaā, Romeās famous film festival! The city is brimming with actors, directors, and celebrities in stunning ensembles that I'm desperate to recreate! Just wait until you see my outfit today - a gorgeously ruffled pink tutu dress paired with a vintage ruby-red coat. It's like a vision straight out of Fellini!
I started the day, naturally, with a delightful pastry from a cafe down the street. Then, I went for a spin through the Piazza di Spagna, where I found the most perfect pair of vintage ballerina flats in a dusty shop hidden amongst the high fashion brands. Canāt resist a bargain, can I? After that, I treated myself to some delightful shopping therapy - Romeās vintage and designer clothing boutiques have some real gems!
Then, for a bit of afternoon elegance, I took a detour through the Trevi Fountain. I couldnāt help but throw in a coin ā just canāt resist a little romantic tradition, can I? The sheer scale and beauty of the fountain just took my breath away, all that glittering water cascading against the soft Tuscan sun, truly a feast for the senses! Iām pretty sure I was so lost in the magic, I accidentally dropped a ā¬20 noteā¦Whoops! Oh well, the gods must have had a fashion-related purchase in mind for me, perhaps a dazzling vintage handbag or a feather boa to match my red coat. š
Speaking of gods, the highlight of my day was a trip to the Pantheon. Imagine it - soaring marble, perfectly spherical dome, a beautiful mosaic, history oozing out of every single brick! The sense of awe was palpable, almost like I was standing inside the mind of a god, full of wonder and majesty!
Later this evening, Iām planning to hit up Teatro dellāOpera di Roma. A breathtaking ballet production is on, so I've got my dancing shoes ready, of course! I canāt wait to immerse myself in the drama and artistry ā something truly magical happens when a performer channels passion into every pirouette and leaps.
But, enough about my itinerary! Iām all about inspiration and fun. Today, my #PinkTutuRome post is a love letter to the pink flamingo. This majestic bird, symbol of confidence and grace, resonates deeply with me. That elegant curve of its neck, those bright, flamingo-pink feathersā¦they're pure artistry. I even found a few fab flamingo-themed accessories at a vintage shop this afternoon! Who says flamingo is passĆ©? We canāt let these whimsical creatures fade from fashion! And I've decided I'm on a mission to spread the pink flamingo love! This means a new pink tutu dress, of course, with an oversized, flamboyant pink flamingo-themed brooch andā¦a flamingo feather boa, wouldnāt you know it.
In the grand scheme of things, I just want to live life to the fullest. I want to see everything, wear every colour, and experience all the wonder this world has to offer.
But, for tonight, my darlings, itās back to my little Roman flat to prep for the show at the Teatro dellāOpera!
If you are heading to Rome, do check out my suggestions for amazing coffee shops and vintage stores ā you can find all of that information, along with lots more photos, on www.pink-tutu.com .
Remember, life's a stage, darlings! Embrace the moment, wear a pink tutu, and twirl like no one is watching.
Until next time,
Love, Emma ššš©°š
P.S. Did I mention that I got the most amazing Gelato di Pistacchio (pistachio gelato) at a little corner shop earlier? The combination of that smooth, green ice cream, with a fresh pistachio and honey biscotti, was divine! I could have devoured it in one gulpā¦ if only the Italians hadnāt taught me the art of savoring! (But maybe a second scoop was still on the cards.) š
