Pink Tutu Rome #1171 - A Whirlwind of Romance, Ristorante and Roman Ruins!
Buongiorno, darlings! It's Emma here, your favourite tutu-wearing, travel-loving ballerina, back from the Eternal City, ready to share all the twirling goodness of my Rome adventures with you! This week, it's all about exploring ancient ruins, feasting on delicious pasta, and falling head over heels for the magic of Rome – a city where every cobbled corner feels like a scene from a Fellini film.
Wednesday, 15th November – you might think I'm crazy, but I’m going to let you in on a little secret. Today was about exploring a different kind of stage – the ancient Colosseum. It was like stepping into a history book, the echoing whispers of gladiators and lions still lingering in the air. I swear I could practically feel the ground trembling with the cheers of the crowds. The grandeur of it all left me speechless, especially when the setting sun painted the stones in hues of pink – the colour of dreams, you know. And who says you can’t wear a tutu in such a place? My pink, shimmering one, it was a dream, like a modern-day Roman goddess, dancing with the ghosts of emperors and empresses!
After the Colosseum, we strolled along Via dei Fori Imperiali, where the sun began to sink behind the Roman Forum, casting the crumbling ruins in a warm, golden light. It felt like a fairytale, especially with the soft chiming of church bells in the air.
Dinner, of course, had to be a culinary adventure. I was craving a real Italian experience, and oh, what a feast we found at a little trattoria down a narrow, cobblestone street. I’m pretty sure they served me the best spaghetti carbonara in the world – all creamy, cheesy and topped with crunchy pancetta. I think I could have eaten another portion (or two), but I decided to leave some room for dessert – the tiramisu was simply divine, a sweet and creamy dream!
And of course, a visit to Rome wouldn’t be complete without a bit of fashion fun. We wandered through the bustling streets, checking out all the chic boutiques and designer stores. My eye caught a shimmering silk scarf in a vibrant coral – so perfect for my upcoming ballet performance, and, yes, of course, it found a home in my suitcase.
And as I sit here, typing this from my quaint little hotel room overlooking the Tiber River, the city's nocturnal magic is in full swing. The moon casts a silvery light across the flowing waters, while the distant sounds of a nearby opera house float on the breeze. Rome truly does have a romance and a spirit that captures the soul.
Rome, you’ve already stolen a piece of my heart! I know I’ll be back, darlings. Until then, keep twirling!
And remember, you too can embrace the beauty and the magic of pink, whether it's a pink tutu, a pink sunset, or a pink scarf, it’s all about spreading a little bit of sunshine and love into the world, one pink twinkle at a time.
Stay pink, stay fabulous,
Emma x
