Pink Tutu Rome: Wednesday 2017-12-27 – A Ballerina’s Festive Feast in the Eternal City!
Hello darlings! Welcome back to my little corner of the internet, where tutus reign supreme and pink is always in style! It's Wednesday, which means it's time for another #PinkTutuRome post! This week, we're diving headfirst into the magic of Rome, the Eternal City, with its stunning history, delicious food, and a whole lot of festive cheer.
This is my 1177th post, believe it or not, which makes this week extra special! Rome is, of course, the perfect place for this milestone. My week in Rome was jam-packed, from ballet classes with breathtaking views to indulging in the finest Italian cuisine, it’s been a whirlwind of delight! But let me take you on a journey through my pink-tinted spectacles.
Ballet Dreams in the ColosseumOh, darlings! You know my heart belongs to ballet. My travels are always fueled by a love for the art, and I try to incorporate some form of ballet into every trip. Imagine my absolute joy when I discovered a ballet class nestled amidst the stunning backdrop of the Colosseum. My tutu swirled amidst the ancient ruins, as if the graceful shadows of Roman dancers were dancing along with me!
The class was simply magical. We moved with elegance and precision under the watchful eye of a passionate Italian instructor. It was a fusion of old and new – ancient Roman history blending with the elegant art of ballet. I even caught a glimpse of a charming Italian street performer who seemed to dance in harmony with our class. Such delightful inspiration!
Shopping AdventuresOf course, no trip to Italy is complete without a little retail therapy! Now, I love the way Italian designers embrace colour and pattern, so the shops were an absolute wonderland for me. Think delicate silk scarves, glamorous beaded handbags, and elegant shoes with a little sparkle!
It's always wonderful to find a touch of pink, even amongst all the dramatic reds and emerald greens of the Italian fashion scene. This time, I discovered a little boutique overflowing with hand-made accessories in vibrant hues – think shimmering pink hair clips, sparkling pearl earrings, and dainty charm bracelets.
As a pink-tutu-wearing fashionista, I can never resist a statement piece. This time, I found a gorgeous fuchsia-coloured, tutu-inspired mini skirt with the most intricate embroidery and a touch of golden thread! I felt like a princess out of a fairytale!
Delicious Festive FeastsNow, Rome has to be one of the most delectable destinations in the world. I adore sampling local specialties – pizza, pasta, tiramisu, the list goes on! And Rome in December is extra special! Christmas lights adorn every cobblestone street, and the delicious aromas of roasted chestnuts and roasted meats mingle with the scents of traditional Christmas pastries. It’s an assault on the senses!
I made sure to sample a Christmas specialty, a delicious dessert called Panettone, a sweet bread with candied fruits and raisins. I paired it with a fragrant espresso and found myself nestled in a cafe surrounded by families enjoying their festive meals – what could be more charming than that?
Pink Tutu InspirationsOn a wander through the bustling, vibrant city, I saw my inspiration everywhere. A couple wore pink sweaters, a little girl sported a pink headband, a pink Fiat zoomed past! Even a street vendor selling handmade knitted hats included a gorgeous rose pink beanie in his display.
As the Christmas season in Rome began to wind down, a beautiful pink Christmas tree in St Peter's Square caught my eye. The dazzling array of decorations – all sparkling pink and gold – was a breathtaking sight to behold. It's moments like these that really make me believe in the power of pink to make the world a more joyous place!
A Ballet BonanzaRome, however, isn't all food and fashion. I simply had to take in a ballet show at the magnificent Teatro dell’Opera di Roma. It was a masterpiece of elegance, grace, and theatrical brilliance, featuring a breathtaking adaptation of Tchaikovsky's 'Swan Lake.'
The choreography was exquisite – swirling tutus and perfectly timed movements filled the stage. The music was captivating. As the dancers performed, it felt like they were taking me on a magical journey. I could barely keep my feet still – the energy in the theater was infectious!
Back to DerbyshireIt's time to bid farewell to Rome for now, darlings! As the train departs for Derbyshire, I reflect on my time here. It has been a dream come true! The warmth of the Italian people, the delectable food, the breathtaking beauty, and the exhilarating ballet experiences have made my stay absolutely unforgettable!
But, as always, I can't help but look forward to new adventures. Where will the pink tutu take me next? Keep checking back every Wednesday, darlings! It wouldn't be a #PinkTutuRome without a touch of suspense, right?
Until next time, stay fabulous!
Love,
