Pink Tutu Rome: Wednesday 2018-01-10 - Exploring the Eternal City in Pink!
Ciao bellas! It’s Emma, your resident pink tutu enthusiast, and I’m so excited to be back with you all for another weekly adventure in Rome! This is post number 1179, and it’s bursting with Italian sunshine, cobbled streets, and of course, a whole lotta pink!
The past few days have been absolutely dreamy! As always, I travelled by train (something I find far more romantic than flying!), and the Italian countryside whizzed past my window like a montage of Renaissance paintings. I felt like I was stepping straight into a Fellini film!
You know how I fund these incredible trips? Yep, with my ballet performances, of course! Last week, I was in Vienna, twirling for a stunning charity gala, and the energy of the audience was electric. And the most magical part? A young girl came up to me afterwards, all wide-eyed, and said, "I'm going to wear a pink tutu too!" That, my loves, is what it's all about!
So, here in Rome, I'm starting with a few tips for fellow fashion-loving, tutu-obsessed adventurers like yourselves:
1. Fashion & Shopping
Rome is a haven for style. I'm absolutely loving the mix of modern and classic Italian fashion here! There's something for everyone - sleek leather jackets, romantic floral prints, and of course, tons of gorgeous fabrics for DIY tutu inspiration!
Via Condotti: This street is a dream for designer brands. It's where the big names are, like Gucci, Chanel, and Prada. Just try not to cry when you see the price tags!
Via del Corso: This long, lively street is perfect for mixing it up! You'll find everything from high street brands like H&M to chic independent boutiques.
Vintage & Thrift Stores: Rome is an absolute treasure trove for vintage finds! Check out the little shops in the Trastevere neighbourhood – they’re a haven for retro treasures and vintage tutus waiting for their next adventure!
2. Ballet & Theatre:
Oh, Italy, you know how to do opera and ballet! This week I’m catching "La Traviata" at the Teatro dell'Opera di Roma, one of the most renowned opera houses in the world! The beautiful building alone is a sight to behold, and I've heard the performance is breathtaking. I'll be sure to share my thoughts on it next week!
3. Culture & Food:
From the majestic Colosseum to the Pantheon, Rome's historical wonders are breathtaking. It feels like you're stepping back in time!
And the food! Let's not forget the deliciousness of Italian cuisine! Pasta, pizza, gelato… the list goes on! My top pick for the most delicious pizza is a tiny little place tucked away in the Monti neighbourhood. The aroma is intoxicating and the crust is crispy and golden. I’m already dreaming of their margherita pizza with fresh mozzarella!
But the highlight of my day today is visiting the Galleria Borghese, an absolute treasure trove of art and sculptures by Bernini and Caravaggio. It’s hard to believe such masterpieces could be held in one place. It was pure art-fueled magic!
I’ll keep you all updated on my latest Roman adventures! If you’ve got any questions about my trips, or need any advice about Rome, just drop me a message on www.pink-tutu.com! Remember, everyone is welcome to embrace their inner ballerina and don a pink tutu!
Stay fabulous!
