Pink Tutu Rome - #1180 🩰🇮🇹
Ciao Bella! It's Wednesday, which means it's time for another instalment of my Pink Tutu Rome adventures! I've been busy exploring the Eternal City, and believe me, it's been fabulous. This week, I've got so much to tell you - it's like a whirlwind of history, art, fashion, and oh yes, tutus!
I always love getting on a train, especially in Europe - you really get to soak up the scenery. I boarded the Eurostar from Derbyshire to Rome, and even though I had my nose stuck in a good book about Roman history (gotta get in the mood, right?), I couldn't help but admire the changing landscapes zipping by the window. You know I have to look stylish when travelling! I sported my bright pink cashmere jumper with a sequined tutu, layered over a pair of comfy, yet stylish, black leggings. It's all about comfort AND looking good, darlings!
As soon as I arrived in Rome, I felt the buzz in the air. Everyone was rushing about, and I couldn't help but imagine what amazing secrets lay behind each dusty, sun-baked cobbled street. You really get a sense of history just breathing in the air of Rome, I felt a million years old!
Of course, my first mission was to find the perfect outfit for exploring this gorgeous city. I waltzed into a delightful little boutique tucked away in Trastevere - it was brimming with floral patterns and luxurious silks. I finally found the perfect look: a blush pink linen dress, adorned with delicate embroidery and a tiny black belt. This, with my favourite pair of strappy pink sandals, felt like the perfect Roman summery ensemble.
After getting my fashion fix, it was time to delve into the world of Roman art. The Galleria Borghese is a real must-see, if you ask me. The museum itself is a gorgeous palace, with manicured gardens and grand staircases. But it's the art that truly blew me away - I especially loved Bernini's 'Apollo and Daphne', the movement is so incredibly lifelike, I practically felt the wind of Apollo's bow!
After all that art appreciation, my stomach started to rumble. I decided to try one of those charming Roman trattorias. I ordered a steaming bowl of cacio e pepe, a pasta dish so simple yet so divine, the flavour just bursts in your mouth!
After lunch, I spent the afternoon wandering through the Colosseum - it was utterly breathtaking! Just picturing the gladiatorial combats and the crowds of thousands, I couldn't help but imagine what it was like in those ancient times. I made sure to capture some photos for Instagram, because what's a Rome adventure without some beautiful pics? #PinkTutuRome #ColosseumAdventures
The evening brought with it another exciting adventure. I ventured to see a stunning ballet performance by the Roma Opera Ballet. It was a modern interpretation of ‘Romeo and Juliet’, filled with passionate dancing and captivating music. It’s safe to say, I was utterly enchanted. They say love is in the air in Rome, and seeing this show definitely made me believe it! My favourite part was when Juliet and Romeo danced the final waltz. The sheer elegance of it made me tear up!
As I reflect on this whirlwind of a day in Rome, I can’t help but feel incredibly inspired and joyful. There's such an energy here, a history that buzzes beneath the surface, that you can almost feel it in your bones. And what's more, it feels like this city was built for dancing!
I'm looking forward to my next adventure in Rome and I hope you'll join me!
