#PinkTutuRome Wednesday 2018-01-31 exploring Rome Italy

Buongiorno bella!

From the rolling green hills of Derbyshire, England to the bustling, ancient streets of Rome, my journey this week has been a whirlwind of romance, history, and a dash of, you guessed it – pink! This is, of course, your regular Wednesday dose of Pink Tutu adventures, taking you on a guided tour of the Eternal City with your favourite tutu-clad blogger, me!

So, pour yourself a cappuccino (the Romans are masters of coffee, by the way!), grab your fanciest pink outfit and let's explore Rome together, just as I did today…

The thrill of arriving in a new city is intoxicating! And what better way to arrive than by train? I simply adore the romanticism of rail travel. Stepping off the sleek Eurostar in Rome Termini, my pink tulle tutu danced in the breeze as I gathered my bags. My latest custom creation, it featured a glittering rose design inspired by the floral charm of Rome. It was just the perfect outfit for starting my Italian adventure.

After a quick pitstop at my hotel – a chic little gem in Trastevere with views of the Tiber River – I was ready to explore!

The best part of being a tourist in a city like Rome? Exploring those hidden alleyways and local haunts! My afternoon began with a charming stroll through the Monti neighbourhood, a vintage lover's paradise. Cobblestone streets lined with independent shops selling vintage clothing, jewellery, and handcrafted treasures transported me back to a different era. I couldn't resist picking up a couple of dainty pink rose brooches to add a touch of Italian flair to my already blooming wardrobe!

Speaking of fashion, my heart skipped a beat at the sight of a shop called "Le Straordinarie". Now, it may not be all about the ballet, but there were so many incredible outfits with vibrant colors, bold prints, and chic styles that spoke to the passionate side of me! This was a sartorial adventure on its own!

Later, I found myself drawn to the beauty of Piazza Navona. This stunning square was abuzz with street performers, artists, and artisans. One talented artist even created a stunning charcoal sketch of me and my tutu – a true Roman memento to cherish!

You know I can't visit any city without checking out its ballet scene, so my evening began with an extraordinary experience. "La Scala" is one of the most prestigious opera houses in the world. This evening, they were showcasing an incredible performance of Tchaikovsky's "Swan Lake." The grace and beauty of the dancers left me utterly captivated. I couldn't help but let loose a few "bravos" as the performance reached its thrilling climax.

After the show, I stumbled upon a charming little restaurant nestled on a cobbled backstreet. Indulging in a delicious plate of spaghetti al ragu, I felt like I was truly experiencing the authentic flavors of Rome.

My day in Rome has been a beautiful journey through art, history, and fashion. The city itself seems to have an undeniable charisma. And what makes it even more enchanting? Rome is overflowing with colour. Whether it's the fiery hues of a sunset, the vibrant displays of the flower markets, or the elegant shades of pastel buildings – it's a feast for the eyes!

Tomorrow's a day of Roman history! I'll be exploring the Colosseum, a monumental masterpiece of the ancient world, and learning all about the gladiatorial battles that once took place within its imposing walls.
