Pink Tutu Rome: Post #1207

Ciao Bella!

It’s Wednesday, so you know what that means - it’s time for another Pink Tutu Rome post! I’m currently in the heart of this fabulous city, surrounded by ancient ruins and gorgeous gelato, and my heart is brimming with Italian inspiration!

It’s been a whirlwind week since I arrived. My pink tutu suitcase, crammed full of fuchsia frills and glittery ballet flats, landed at Termini Station last Sunday evening. I confess, a little of me hoped for a more cinematic welcome than just the slightly disorganised, bustling railway platform I found. However, the excitement was undeniable! After all, Rome! I love arriving in new cities by train. There's something truly romantic about it, you feel part of the story already!

Speaking of romance, I simply couldn’t resist squeezing in a spontaneous visit to the Trevi Fountain last night, just as the sun began to set. The warm Tuscan evening light reflecting on the rippling water was utterly magical. With all that splashing water around, I half-expected a chorus of frolicking pink tutus, but it seemed the magic of a ballet-filled life was strictly my own tonight!

Instead of frolicking ballerinas, there was an array of excited tourists trying to avoid the deluge, coins thrown with wishes whispered, and, of course, a good dose of gelato-induced contentment. Honestly, I can't remember a gelato as delicious. The creamy, buttery texture mixed with sweet, sharp lemon, followed by a juicy blackberry flavour - pure bliss.

Let's talk fashion for a moment! I love finding the perfect outfit for each new destination. For Rome, I'm all about classic elegance mixed with a bit of flirty fun, naturally! I've packed a light, flowy pink dress with delicate floral details, a vintage ivory cardigan for those breezy Roman evenings, and my trusty pair of sparkly silver ballerina flats. And, of course, no trip to Rome is complete without a little pink tutu!

This one is a special edition - a vibrant hot pink with layers of tulle that make me feel like I'm floating on a cloud of cotton candy. It's my 'dress up and conquer the city' outfit - and believe me, I'm feeling invincible.

So, what have I been up to in Rome, you ask? This past week has been an adventure filled with Roman history, cultural immersion, and, naturally, some fantastic shopping. Here’s a peek into my week:

Day 1: After the whirlwind arrival, I wandered through the vibrant streets of the Trastevere neighbourhood, savouring the aroma of fresh pastries and enjoying the colourful stalls spilling onto the cobblestones. It's like stepping into a scene from a charming old movie! I managed to find a lovely little boutique and finally tracked down the perfect, flowy linen skirt I've been searching for.

Day 2: I'm a total history buff, so of course, I visited the Colosseum and the Roman Forum. Walking amidst those majestic ruins transported me back in time, and it felt surreal to imagine the gladiatorial combats and the echoes of Roman voices through the vast arena. I felt a little like a time-travelling ballerina - a pretty fantastical notion!

Day 3: No trip to Rome would be complete without a visit to the Vatican. I’m not quite religious but I find myself feeling incredibly peaceful whenever I'm surrounded by the magnificent artistry of the Renaissance. This visit definitely fueled the muse within me. I already have plans to incorporate some Italian Renaissance themes into my next ballet performance. The architecture is simply stunning.

Day 4: I dedicated this day to my favourite activity - shopping! Of course, I couldn't leave Rome without visiting Via Condotti, the ultimate fashion haven. The boutiques are an explosion of colours, textures, and impeccable designs. While the prices might make you swoon a little, it’s worth the wander just to be inspired.

Day 5: This is when the true magic of Rome started to unfold for me. I ventured a little way outside the city center to find a beautiful hidden gem, the Giardini degli Aranci. This orange garden on the Aventine Hill boasts breathtaking views of the city. You get a breathtaking panoramic vista, perfect for taking a deep breath and taking in the majesty of it all, or capturing a fabulous photo for Instagram, of course!

Day 6: I had a wonderful evening at the Teatro dell’Opera di Roma, witnessing a glorious production of Carmen. I was entranced by the passionate vocals and dramatic choreography, and I found myself inspired by the emotional power of the music and story.

Day 7: It was a beautiful morning at the Trevi Fountain. After the perfect gelato, I continued exploring, discovering delightful piazzas tucked away behind historical facades and browsing through tiny shops filled with local handicrafts. Later that evening, I felt compelled to find a spot with the perfect view for my "pink tutu photo opportunity" (because how else will you all know I've been in Rome?!) Thankfully, I found a perfect little rooftop spot for my Instagrammable pink tutu twirls, looking across to the spectacular view of the lit-up Colosseum! #PinkTutuRome was trending worldwide that night - yay!

I've been absolutely blown away by this vibrant, historical city. From the majestic ruins and awe-inspiring art to the buzzing streets and delectable food, Rome is a true sensory delight!

My next Pink Tutu adventure takes me to the heart of Spain next week! I have high hopes of exploring the dazzling city of Seville, and discovering some of the captivating flamenco dance.

Don’t forget to tune in next week for more fabulous travel stories!

Until then, spread a little pink tutu love and stay fashionable!

Love,

Emma
