Hello darlings! Welcome back to my little corner of the internet, where the pink tutu reigns supreme and the only rule is to embrace your inner ballerina. This week, we're taking a little trip to the Eternal City – Rome, baby!
It's Wednesday, and you know what that means - time for another Pink Tutu Rome post!
This week's adventure is all about embracing the vibrant energy of Rome. Picture this: sunshine dappling through ancient ruins, the aroma of freshly baked pizza filling the air, and of course, a pink tutu twirling through it all! (Can you imagine how amazing that would look against the backdrop of the Colosseum?)
Let me tell you, darlings, this week has been pure magic. I arrived yesterday on a comfy Italian train - such a fun way to travel! I squeezed into a compartment with a family from Naples. I thought it might be tricky with my sparkly pink luggage but it just added a bit of colour to their journey. They loved it! As I always say, life's too short for dull suitcases.
Oh, and did I mention my arrival in Rome was just magical? Stepping off the train, I felt like I’d wandered onto a film set - cobblestone streets, beautiful architecture, a touch of history around every corner, and a symphony of Italian chatter that I just couldn't get enough of.
I've been on a whirlwind tour since then! This morning I took a stroll past the Pantheon. The awe-inspiring scale of that dome! Can you imagine the sheer power it must have exuded in its day? My heart is still singing from the beauty of it all! I almost did a little pirouette in front of it, just for a bit of extra dramatic flair, you know how I like a bit of flair, but it felt a little too touristy, even for me!
Then, it was on to the Trevi Fountain, just imagine, darlings, me twirling around the Trevi Fountain. (The fountain with all the coins in! – did you know I have to toss in a couple, that’s an ancient custom! For good luck, apparently!) I had to pose, though, even if the fountain was rammed with people! Just picture it! The beautiful creamy-white stone, the roaring water and, of course, moi! A pink tutu dancing on the edge of the fountain! It truly was the perfect Instagram moment!
My little tummy was grumbling (Rome doesn’t disappoint, those Italian aromas are something else!), so I took a break for a delicious, authentic Roman pizza! Now, don't even get me started on how heavenly that pizza was! 🍕 Just thinking about the creamy mozzarella and juicy tomatoes makes me want to jump on that next plane and go straight back!
This evening, darlings, we are taking a peek into the glamorous world of Roman theatre. Tonight's show is "La Traviata" by Verdi, one of the classics! Can you imagine me dancing along to this show with my tutu swirling in a gorgeous red dress at the grand opera house! Now wouldn't that be a story for the books?
Speaking of fashion darlings, oh, my darling, this city has just blown my mind. Think exquisite silk scarves, hand-crafted leather bags, shoes designed to make you want to twirl – the list goes on. I’ve been in a bit of a shopping spree frenzy, especially for new tutus, my wardrobe could only be described as an explosion of pink with my little Rome collection of accessories! Don’t you agree, it's only right to indulge in a bit of Italian fashion, while surrounded by some of the world's best! You've simply got to try one of the decadent gelato shops – I've got my eyes set on one that serves strawberry gelato! (Do you think pink would match the tutu? 🤔 – a decision for another day.)

Sunday 2018-09-23 - Colosseum and Roman Forum - Let's face it, darling, there is nothing quite as impressive as some of the history of this city!
A final word on this adventure Rome, you’ve truly captured my heart! From the cobbled streets and buzzing piazzas to the delicious food, and that unique charm that makes this city so special – you’ve made a little Derbyshire girl feel so welcome.
