Pink Tutu Rome: Wednesday 2019-01-23 - La Dolce Vita in a Tutu! ๐๐ฎ๐น
Hello my dearest Tutu-lovers! Itโs Wednesday which means itโs time for a fresh new Pink Tutu blog post, direct from the magical city of Rome! ๐ This week's post is extra special as it's post number 1233, wow! What an incredible milestone! It feels like just yesterday I was a shy little ballerina from Derbyshire, England, dreaming of seeing the world in my pink tutu!
Now, as you all know, I'm a massive fan of train travel and this time it was the Eurostar that brought me to the heart of Italy. As the train whizzed past the rolling hills and sparkling rivers, I felt my excitement grow! This journey was all about soaking up the beauty of Italy, embracing the sunshine, the art, the culture... and of course, discovering some amazing new tutus! ๐ฉฐ
This week, my first stop was a trip to the glorious Teatro dellโOpera di Roma. I had been longing to see a performance at this majestic theatre, and boy, did it live up to expectations! The ornate ceilings, the plush velvet seating, and the atmosphere of anticipation before the show... It felt like stepping into a dream.
I knew the program had some beautiful ballet, and I couldn't resist a quick costume change into a sparkly pink tutu with tulle so voluminous it looked like a fluffy cloud! ๐โจ Just imagine it: the hushed theatre, the soft murmur of the audience, the dramatic music rising from the orchestra pit... then the curtain rises and it's a dance of pure magic.
Every twirl, every leap, every gesture was a masterpiece! And I was there, bathed in the magic, feeling like a ballerina princess myself. I just wished everyone in the audience could have seen their reflection in my tutu! You see, dear readers, my goal is to inspire everyone to wear a pink tutu! One tutu at a time, we can create a world full of twirling, laughing, and spreading joy! ๐ฅฐ
The performance over, it was time to venture into the heart of Rome. Now, any trip to this ancient city is incomplete without a delicious plate of pasta. I opted for a plate of Cacio e Pepe โ a simple but mouth-watering combination of pecorino romano cheese, black pepper and pasta. As I devoured each creamy mouthful, I watched the city come alive with a thousand lights, painting a vibrant, dazzling scene.
But of course, what's a Pink Tutu blog without a little retail therapy? I spent the afternoon lost in the winding alleys of Rome's historic center, finding vintage gems, unique jewelry and of course, a few shops specializing in the finest, most breathtakingly gorgeous tutus in the world! It felt like Cinderella walking through a magical wardrobe, surrounded by possibilities. I found a breathtaking tulle tutu with pearl embellishments, so elegant and enchanting I could barely breathe! It just HAD to come home with me.
The following day was all about the art of ancient Rome. My trip wouldn't have been complete without visiting the Colosseum, an incredible symbol of history and a must-see for any visitor. This monumental amphitheatre, which used to host gladiatorial games and public spectacles, is so large that it took my breath away. You could feel the weight of centuries echoing through its stones, a palpable sense of history whispering tales of past glories and triumphs.
From the Colosseum, it was a short walk to the Roman Forum, a vast complex of ancient temples, basilicas and ruins, with breathtaking views over the Palatine Hill. The warm sun and the sheer scale of these ancient monuments combined to create an atmosphere both awe-inspiring and almost surreal. As I wandered amongst the ruins, I imagined the people who walked these very paths centuries ago, their voices carrying across the ages, whispering stories of emperors and gladiators.
This incredible journey would not have been possible without my love for ballet, my love for fashion, and of course, my dedication to sharing the pink tutu spirit! Each performance, every step I take across a stage, takes me closer to my dreams and allows me to explore these incredible places. It's a beautiful journey that I'm sharing with each and every one of you!
And that's all for this week's Pink Tutu Rome! Join me next week for more adventures, more sunshine, more amazing tutus, and more love from the heart of Italy!
Until next Wednesday,
With love and twirls,
Emma ๐
