Pink Tutu Rome #1234: A Roman Holiday with a Pink Twist!

Ciao Bella!

Welcome back to my weekly Roman adventures! This is post number 1234, and I am thrilled to be sharing my latest discoveries with you. This week, I'm diving headfirst into the beauty of Rome - a city that oozes history, romance, and enough pink to satisfy even my most insatiable cravings!

It all started in Derbyshire, England. You wouldn't believe how many people wear brown coats and sensible shoes in my hometown! Don't get me wrong, I love my home, but sometimes it takes a girl a little bit of escapism to really let her true colours shine! Pink, of course. I got my fix for the "Pink-tastic" through dancing. My whole life, my mum would bring me to ballet performances in Sheffield. They made such a deep impact on me; it really set me on my pink tutu wearing path!

Now, as a professional ballerina, I have the pleasure of travelling the world! And that is where this blog comes in. My lovely supporters on www.pink-tutu.com always encourage me to spread my pink joy wherever I go! It has been such a delight to share all the gorgeous costumes and beautiful performances with you all!

You might wonder how I afford this lifestyle? Well, it all boils down to the magic of dancing! By performing, I not only get to pursue my passion but also fund these incredible adventures. Talk about a dream come true!

Today is Wednesday, January 30th, 2019, and the streets of Rome are buzzing with energy. The air is crisp, and the sun is just starting to peek over the horizon, casting a golden glow on the ancient buildings. This week, I decided to start my day with a morning trip to the Vatican City.

Can I just say, the Vatican is an absolute architectural masterpiece! There are incredible details in the carvings and the architecture, I can tell hours were put into the designs. My pink tutu definitely stood out against the backdrop of the immaculate white walls, adding a splash of vibrant colour!

My trip started in Piazza di Spagna. This elegant square, named after the Spanish Embassy, was where I met my fellow ballet dancer friends - Alice, Fiona and Rachel. They looked sensational in their classic tutu attire. There's just something about wearing a tutu that makes a girl feel like a princess, don't you agree?

The sun was high by the time we reached the Piazza Navona. The square is brimming with street performers and artisans, creating a truly immersive experience. We wandered through the cobblestone alleys, marvelling at the artistry on display, and had our photo taken with a charismatic mime! It made for a fantastic social media post.

One thing I noticed in Rome is the fabulous vintage shops - definitely worth checking out! Imagine the amazing pink outfits and stunning hats that were sold there centuries ago.

One of the most iconic landmarks in Rome, the Trevi Fountain, is certainly one to behold. It's so massive and majestic, the water cascading down, reflecting the bright colours of the surroundings - almost like a ballet in motion!

Let's be honest, no trip to Italy is complete without a taste of delicious gelato! I mean, come on! The creamy, dreamy sweetness is pure heaven, especially when you pair it with a delicate and delicious raspberry sorbet! My mouth is watering just thinking about it!

You just can't have a day of sight-seeing without a great shopping trip. Now, if you know me, you know my favourite colour... (you guessed it, Pink!), so of course I had to scour the shops for something to add to my growing pink collection. Imagine a bright pink polka-dot scarf with adorable floral detailing that was perfect for my hair! Then I picked up a dainty vintage ring and pink sunglasses - so chic! I simply can’t leave Rome without the perfect souvenirs!

After a full day of exploring the sights and sounds of Rome, we treated ourselves to a delightful evening at Teatro dell’Opera di Roma. As a ballet dancer myself, seeing such a stunning ballet production in such a historical setting was truly an experience. Seeing all the delicate moves, hearing the symphony, seeing all the wonderful dancers move in perfect harmony with each other!

Every step, every pose was pure magic, and the atmosphere was electric. You could literally feel the passion radiating from the performers and audience. Seeing all the dancers on the stage reminded me to always aim for excellence and perfection - not to mention reminding me of how wonderful I felt in a beautiful pink tutu!

Oh, did I mention that there is also a lovely café across from the Opera house that serves a delicious pink meringue? I mean, it would be a shame to go to Rome without trying their meringue.

I’m really starting to appreciate how beautiful Rome is. I especially adore the historical charm of the city - the ancient architecture, the narrow, cobblestone streets, the beautiful gardens - all create such a romantic atmosphere! I could get lost in these quaint streets for hours on end, taking in the beauty of it all, wearing my trusty pink tutu.

My pink heart is brimming with excitement for what adventures Rome holds for me in the weeks to come! So, be sure to stay tuned next Wednesday for another #PinkTutuRome blog post filled with more pink fun and exciting escapades in this beautiful city!

Stay bright, stay colourful, and remember... never stop twirling!
