Pink Tutu Rome: Ciao Bella!
Wednesday 22nd May, 2019 – Post 1250
Ciao bellas! Emma here, writing to you from the magical city of Rome! This week's #PinkTutuRome adventure has been bursting with colour, culture, and of course, lots of pink! If you've been following me on www.pink-tutu.com you know that this is my 1250th post - a monumental occasion! To celebrate, I thought it only fitting to share my journey through the Eternal City, where history meets glamour, and where every day is a stage.
From Derbyshire to Italy by Train:
My journey started in good old Derbyshire, the heart of England. I always love travelling by train, especially for a European escapade. There's just something so romantic about watching the landscape fly past and catching glimpses of hidden villages and bustling cities. This time, I had my trusty pink backpack packed with essentials - my pink tutu, of course (can't go anywhere without it!), my favourite ballet shoes, a blush-toned beret, and my latest vintage finds from the local flea market.
Stepping onto Roman Soil:
As soon as I arrived in Rome, I felt a buzz in the air. This city has such an electrifying energy - a symphony of history, art, and vibrancy. The ancient ruins seemed to whisper tales of emperors and gladiators, while the modern shops beckoned me in with their latest fashion creations. My first order of business? A cup of steaming hot cappuccino and a fluffy croissant from a local café, all enjoyed with the picturesque backdrop of the Colosseum. It was like stepping into a time machine!
Ballet in the Eternal City:
No trip to Rome is complete without a visit to the Teatro dell'Opera di Roma, an opulent opera house bursting with Italian charm and elegance. On Tuesday, I had the privilege of seeing a performance of "Giselle," one of the most famous ballets of all time. It was truly magical - the intricate choreography, the emotive music, the dazzling costumes - a feast for the senses!
A Ballet Lover's Dream:
Before the show, I had the chance to meet a young Italian ballerina, Lucia, who was attending ballet school in Rome. We had the most wonderful conversation about her passion for ballet and her hopes to join the opera's ballet company one day. I love sharing my love for dance with others and discovering new talent! Lucia and I exchanged contact details and made a promise to see each other again soon - I can't wait to learn more about the ballet scene in Rome and perhaps even take a class or two myself.
Exploring the City with a Pink Twist:
My days in Rome have been a whirlwind of pink-tutu-inspired adventures! One morning I wandered through the charming Trastevere neighborhood, with its cobblestone streets, charming trattorias, and overflowing flower stalls. Later, I found myself lost in the Galleria Borghese, marvelling at Bernini's masterpieces, including "Apollo and Daphne." Every corner seemed to whisper its own unique story.
Pink Fashion finds and Roman Charm:
No trip to a European city is complete without a little retail therapy! Rome has been an absolute dream for a fashionista like myself. From high-end designer boutiques to vintage shops hidden down back alleys, the city boasts a wide variety of styles, colours, and textures. Of course, I couldn't resist adding a few pink gems to my wardrobe, including a stunning vintage dress from a shop in the Campo de' Fiori market. It's a beautiful blush-toned floral print and perfectly embodies the Roman spirit of romance and style!
The Pink Tutu: A Universal Language:
As I walked through the city, wearing my signature pink tutu, I felt a connection to the Romans. There was a shared love for beauty, style, and creativity. Even though I only spoke a little Italian, my pink tutu became a universal language, drawing smiles and waves from people of all ages and walks of life. And to be honest, who wouldn't be smiling at the sight of a pink tutu?
The Beauty of Everyday Life:
My #PinkTutuRome adventures have not just been about big attractions, but also about appreciating the simple beauty of everyday life. From a cup of strong espresso enjoyed in a sun-drenched piazza to watching children laughing and playing in the city's gardens, every moment was a celebration of the human spirit and the beauty that surrounds us.
Hasta la Próxima, Bella!
Well, my dears, my Roman adventure comes to a close. But as I board my train back to Derbyshire, I take with me the warm memories and the vibrant energy of Rome. I have discovered new talents, rediscovered my love for ballet, and made a few new friends along the way. Rome has enchanted me with its history, beauty, and boundless creativity. And of course, the city is a true testament to the power of pink - reminding us that a touch of colour and a playful attitude can transform the ordinary into the extraordinary! Until next time, keep shining!
Keep twirling and spread the pink love!
Emma.
