Pink Tutu Rome: #1261 – August 7th, 2019

Ciao Bella!

Well, here I am, finally in Rome, the Eternal City! And trust me, a pink tutu was just the thing to get me feeling like a Roman goddess. 💅 This week, we're going all out – exploring the historical wonders, gorging on delicious gelato (so much gelato!), and taking in a couple of breathtaking ballet performances. Who knows, maybe I'll even bust a few pirouettes on the Trevi Fountain?!

As a regular reader of Pink-Tutu.com, you know I love a good train journey, and this trip was no exception. A smooth Eurostar ride from Derby, a swift change in Paris, and boom! - I was whisked away to Italy, the land of romance, artistry, and oh, so much pasta! I swear, the air just feels a little bit more… magical here.

Rome is, of course, buzzing with tourists, and I’m embracing every bit of the chaos and vibrancy. From the magnificent Colosseum, a symbol of Rome's glorious past, to the ancient Pantheon, with its awe-inspiring dome, history is practically leaking from every cobblestone!

This Wednesday, I've got a particularly delicious treat in store for you all! After a whirlwind tour of the city centre (and I mean a whirlwind!), we’re heading straight for the Teatro dell’Opera di Roma – home to some of the most impressive opera and ballet performances in Europe! Get ready for some jaw-dropping costumes and graceful moves… I might even squeeze in a spot of shopping on Via Condotti before the curtain rises. After all, one can never have too many Italian designer shoes, can one?

Speaking of fashion, I have to mention that the people of Rome are some of the most stylish I've ever encountered. From elegant grandmothers in beautifully tailored outfits to fashion-forward youths with their colourful, vibrant wardrobes, there's an infectious, unapologetically bold sense of style.

Of course, it's all about that pink tutu – this week I’ve chosen a vibrant hot pink tulle tutu, with delicate pink chiffon draped around it. Perfect for all the photo-ops at the Trevi Fountain and the Spanish Steps! The pink contrasts so beautifully with the ochre facades and terracotta rooftops. It’s like a sprinkle of sugar on a beautifully baked Italian cake! 🍰

It wouldn't be a proper Pink Tutu blog post without mentioning some yummy treats, so let me paint you a picture… freshly baked croissants and buttery brioche from a local patisserie, mouth-watering pizza bursting with flavour, and oh, the gelato! Imagine, creamy gelato piled high in a cone, drizzled with heavenly sauces. It’s like a sweet dream. I could happily eat my weight in gelato and still be wanting more. 🍨

My days have been filled with exploring, marveling at the ancient wonders, savoring delicious food, and yes, even a few dance sessions – because, let’s be honest, there's something deeply satisfying about twirling through a magnificent city, feeling like a pink tutu princess!

I'm already buzzing about the next adventure – it wouldn't be a true Roman holiday without a trip to the Vatican City! More on that in next week’s blog – it’s going to be amazing. I promise! Until then, do wear a pink tutu, twirl around your local town, and be brave enough to share a slice of happiness with the world!

With love, from the Eternal City,

Emma. 💗
