Pink Tutu Rome: Ciao Bella!
Hello my lovely tutu-loving friends! This week's adventure takes me to the Eternal City itself, Rome! You may know me from Derbyshire, but for this trip, I've traded in my cobblestone streets for cobbled Roman squares, my local ballet class for a ballet showcase in the Teatro dell'Opera, and my favourite Derbyshire tea shop for the aroma of freshly brewed espresso wafting through the city streets. Oh, and my favourite shade of pink? It's alive and kicking here too! Think fuchsia sunsets, flamingo pink gelato, and rose-gold fountains – oh my!
Rome, a city steeped in history and glamour, is simply bursting with fashion inspiration. Every street corner holds a different story – from the gladiators and emperors of ancient times to the Renaissance masterpieces that whisper tales of art and beauty. This week, I’ll be sharing some of my favourite fashion discoveries, exploring hidden Roman corners, and, of course, embracing the vibrant pink scene!
A Ballerina's Delight: Teatro dell'Opera
I knew that visiting Rome wouldn't be complete without experiencing the majestic Teatro dell'Opera. This opulent venue, nestled within the historic heart of the city, feels like stepping into a dream. Stepping inside, the theatre’s sheer size, its elaborate architecture and dazzling décor left me speechless! Every detail, from the intricate frescoes to the plush velvet seats, exuded grandeur and sophistication. And the ballet? I could barely contain my excitement – the choreography was divine, a graceful dance between strength and emotion, leaving me speechless with admiration.
Speaking of dreams, I must tell you about the stunning costumes – all adorned in the most beautiful shades of pink, lilac, and lavender. They were like wearable works of art! They had that certain ‘je ne sais quoi’ - elegant, sophisticated, and so very ballet! I’m going to be channeling this look for my upcoming performance, perhaps a blush-pink tutu and a sparkling headband?
A Day of Indulgence: Shopping on Via Condotti
You can’t go to Rome without shopping for some authentic Italian fashion – and my favourite street in Rome to get a feel of the true Italian vibe? Well, that’s definitely Via Condotti! You know it's special because it boasts the iconic name brands that all of the A-list celebs love – oh, and if you’re lucky, you might even see one! This week, I spotted Sophia Loren, but I won’t mention what I was wearing at the time! ;)
The fashion? It’s bold and extravagant – just the kind of thing a girl in a tutu likes! Bold colours, sumptuous textures, and the epitome of stylish tailoring – there’s nothing else quite like it! I snagged a pair of cherry red stilettos from a small independent shoe boutique with the most beautiful pink floral details, and a gorgeous lilac linen dress, perfect for those Roman summer evenings.
Romantic Walks Through the Pink City
Now, if there’s one thing you can't miss in Rome, it's the magic of its parks. Think ancient ruins nestled amidst vibrant green trees and flowers – breathtaking! There are so many hidden spots to find, it's a secret treasure hunt just for you and your travel buddy, or perhaps a pink-loving flamingo like myself!
You must go see Villa Borghese. Think lush manicured lawns, gorgeous flowerbeds – a burst of colours that makes even the most hardened ‘pink isn't my colour’ person, start humming ‘Pink’ by Aerosmith!
And then there's the Trevi Fountain – what an absolutely awe-inspiring piece of architecture! It’s as magnificent as everyone tells you it is. I didn't want to leave – but then the water seemed to whisper the phrase “a little bit of Roman coin will grant your wishes!” (It certainly doesn’t hurt!)
Pink Flamingo Gelato
Ah, Italian gelato. Where else can you find gelato that looks, smells and tastes like art? Honestly, my taste buds are so spoiled by these creamy delights – they just melt in your mouth like a whisper on a warm summer's breeze! My favourite place in Rome is this quaint little gelato shop I stumbled across – they’ve named it ‘Pink Flamingo Gelato’ after, well, me I'd like to think! They have so many creative flavours! For a real flavour experience, you have to try the "Rosalind" – a blend of strawberry, rosewater, and white chocolate! But hey, what I’m saying is they’re the most amazing people – it’s the gelato experience! Oh, and my favourite flavour – a blend of raspberry, blackberry, and white chocolate – makes me want to twirl through Rome!
From Pink Tutur to Ballet Shoes
Rome is a city that truly knows how to make you feel glamorous. Whether you’re twirling through the Roman squares in a beautiful blush pink tutu or sipping your favourite drink in a charming piazza, there's a sense of romantic wonder that will stay with you forever! It’s the city of fashion, gelato, art, history and PINK (which we all know are very important!). It’s also the city where the little pink tutu princess found a magical little ballerina’s corner just for her – what more could I ask for?
And as always, I'm leaving you with a little bit of pink inspiration!
- Wear your favourite pink ensemble.
- Try a new flavour of gelato.
- Find a hidden garden and let your imagination soar.
- Most importantly: always remember that life is beautiful and full of possibilities!
Until next time, stay pink!
