Pink Tutu Rome: Post #1269 - Ciao Bella!

Wednesday, 2nd October, 2019

Buongiorno, my darlings! It’s Emma, your pink tutu-wearing ballerina blogger, and I'm bursting with excitement because I’m in Rome, the Eternal City! As you know, I absolutely love exploring new places, especially by train. The rhythmic chugging, the winding countryside whizzing past – it’s like a mini-ballet performance in itself! And the sheer romance of Italy just calls to me, beckoning me with its ancient history, breathtaking art, and delicious pasta. Oh, and the fashion, don't even get me started!

This week, I'm going to be sharing all my favourite Roman discoveries with you. Let's just say I’m pretty smitten, especially with the gelato. There’s something utterly magical about being able to indulge in such creamy, heavenly concoctions. I’m starting to think maybe they’ve found the Fountain of Youth in the form of gelato!

Fashion, Fun & The Fontana di Trevi

I arrived at Termini station yesterday, feeling like a princess in my gorgeous, powder pink tulle tutu and a pair of stylish knee-high boots. It just felt right! And I wasn’t disappointed. Termini Station, a grand, ornate palace of stone, is itself a bit of a fashion statement, so naturally, I had to document it on Instagram, naturally with my hashtag #PinkTutuRome. I'm already garnering a whole load of fans for the #PinkTutuRome, and I'm loving seeing your fabulous pictures!

After dropping my luggage at the charming little bed and breakfast I'd booked (more about that later!), I wasted no time in exploring the city's magical sights. Firstly, it was off to the Trevi Fountain, where I joined the excited crowds admiring its artistry and casting coins with wishes for a return trip to Rome, because honestly, who wouldn’t want to come back to this incredible city?

It was here that I discovered that Italians seem to wear pink tutus every day, but perhaps not exactly like mine. Okay, that might be a bit of an exaggeration, but trust me when I say it’s not too far from the truth. The city’s fashion is full of gorgeous bold colours and flowing fabrics, especially delicate shades of blush and salmon, a true testament to their artistic heritage.

Speaking of heritage, the Fontana di Trevi, I simply had to do a quick impromptu pirouette for you, which of course, involved a twirling tulle skirt! And as luck would have it, a gentleman wearing a classic grey suit stopped and began taking pictures of me – so stylish, right?! He even suggested I pose near the statue of Neptune at the center of the fountain. I might add, he gave me a delightful, almost regal nod as I executed my pirouette, which, well, honestly, what more could a ballerina ask for!

A Night At The Teatro dell'Opera di Roma

My favourite thing about visiting new places? The ballet, of course! Tonight I'm off to see a performance of Romeo and Juliet at the beautiful Teatro dell'Opera di Roma. The venue itself is absolutely stunning, built in a grand, neoclassical style with breathtaking interiors and plush, velvet seating. It just oozes elegance and grandeur, and I simply couldn't resist wearing my shimmering, cherry pink, tulle tutu! You simply cannot underestimate the power of a good, pink, tulle skirt when it comes to attracting compliments!

But the real star of the show? Why, the ballet, of course! And let me tell you, this performance blew me away. The dancers were utterly exquisite, their movements precise and expressive. There was something so poignant and romantic about seeing this iconic story come to life on stage. I just about lost myself in the performance, and afterwards I found myself, to my immense pleasure, completely immersed in the bustling, beautiful atmosphere of the city's historic centre.

The Teatro dell'Opera di Roma's restaurant, I might add, offers some simply divine desserts, which I thoroughly indulged in after the show! The flavours were delicious and each was accompanied by the most fabulous glass of wine – definitely recommend. It was the perfect way to end a magical evening in Rome.

More Fun in Rome… Coming Soon!

But that’s just a snippet of my Italian adventures. There's so much more to share: more fashion finds, delectable food discoveries, and the iconic sights of this ancient and awe-inspiring city. So stay tuned! This is going to be a very fashionable week!

And as always, don't forget to share your #PinkTutuRome adventures with me. I can’t wait to see what you’ve discovered!

Until next Wednesday, happy dancing and even happier tutuing!

Emma
