Hey Tutu Twirlers! It's Emma, back from the eternal city, Rome! I'm so excited to share all the glamorous, girly goodness I found tucked away in this ancient city, all the while twirling around in my signature pink tutu, of course! 😉
This week, we're diving deep into the Roman culture, taking in the iconic sights, the delicious food, and most importantly, the fabulous fashion finds! I'm not one to let a chance to twirl pass me by, and Rome provided ample opportunity to showcase my pink tulle across the cobblestone streets, under the shadow of the Colosseum and beside the majestic Trevi Fountain!
You know I always find a way to infuse my passion for dance into everything I do. While I’m busy sightseeing and indulging in gelato (because who can resist?), my brain is constantly trying to connect the city’s vibe to my favourite dance steps! You can bet your bottom dollar that I was attempting pliés by the Pantheon, doing a relevé at the Trevi Fountain, and trying my best at a fouetté across the Spanish Steps. 😜
Ciao, Mamma Mia! Train Adventures and Fashion Delights
You know my love for train journeys – they're just the best way to soak in the scenery and let my imagination run wild. So, we took the train to Rome from Derbyshire (hello to my local tutu tribe!) and even that journey was an experience! I, of course, had to pick out my best pink outfit, a silk top, a denim jacket and of course, my trusty pink tutu (the one with the silver sequins, it really glistens under the train lights!), all complete with my favourite platform ballet flats.
As always, my outfit got many admiring glances on the journey. Even the Italian Nonna with her vibrant shawl and floral dress seemed to approve! Honestly, there's something magical about putting on a pink tutu; it makes everything more sparkly!
Pink Tutu Rome - A Whirlwind of Glamour
Rome is like stepping into a picture book. It’s just brimming with history, incredible architecture, and of course, the Italian flair for style. This city knows how to live it up! It's the kind of place where you can get lost in the charm of the back streets, just discovering hidden boutiques bursting with the latest fashion finds, or a delicious coffee shop offering an extra strong espresso for a caffeine fueled day of exploration.
On our first day, I decided to take on the Trevi Fountain – and of course, I couldn't miss the opportunity for a truly iconic twirl. Let me tell you, throwing a coin in the Trevi Fountain, hoping to return to Rome someday, feels different when you’re wearing a pink tutu. You really feel that Roman magic. My twirls just had extra twirl power!
Pink Tutu Adventures: Food, Fashion and Fun
Rome has truly spoilt me rotten! The food has been exquisite, every mouthful an explosion of flavour – we’ve enjoyed pasta dishes fit for a goddess, creamy risottos, pizzas with just the right amount of cheese, and gelato that melts in your mouth… seriously, the best gelato ever! It’s no surprise, everyone has a “gelato” moment at some point during their visit to Rome. Even me, in my pink tutu. 😄
Then, there’s the fashion! Rome has shops crammed with incredible designer labels and quirky independent boutiques overflowing with stylish treasures. I simply couldn't resist a trip to some of the city's most fabulous fashion stores – think designer handbags, shoes that will have you twirling around with delight, and the prettiest little dresses that could be worn to any ballets (or any other social gathering for that matter!)
Speaking of ballet, a ballet performance was a definite must! On Wednesday evening (this date, 23rd October 2019, just like you're reading!) we saw an incredible performance by the Teatro dell’Opera di Roma! The sheer beauty of the dancers' costumes and the grace of the performance was truly mesmerising. My heart twirled like the ballerina’s. It truly was the highlight of my Roman adventure!
Spread the Tutu Love: A Pink Revolution is Coming!
As I wander through the streets of Rome, I've found myself looking for the “Pink Tutu Roman.” You know, the people with that inner spark, a penchant for beauty, and who like to make a statement. Rome has a fantastic fashion sense. There’s a lot of black and a lot of colour, but rarely do you see the pink, the vibrant, the “extra”. So, let's be the change, and inject some serious tutu fun into Rome. Let's embrace the joy, the style, the twirling power!
It's time to take Rome by storm. My aim? To get everyone to wear a pink tutu. 😉 You know my mission, spread the tutus, embrace the pink, and always remember, the world's a better place with a little bit of tutu in it.
