Pink Tutu Rome: #1271 - A Roman Holiday in Pink! 🩰🇮🇹
Ciao Bella! It's Wednesday, which means it's time for another Pink Tutu adventure, and this week, I'm whisking you all off to the Eternal City – Rome! This beautiful city is brimming with history, culture, and, of course, style. Let's just say that it’s been a real dream to spend time here in the capital of Italy. Rome’s charm is irresistible – from the stunning Colosseum to the vibrant piazzas and delicious food, every corner of this city has something unique to offer.
My love for Italy started when I was a little girl, watching my favourite films, dreaming of Italian pasta and pizza. There is something about Italian history and Italian fashion, which just appeals to me. It wasn’t until I was in my teens that I was lucky enough to experience it firsthand with my family on a trip.
This time, I'm exploring Rome in my own Pink Tutu style – think a seriously stylish tutu and pink and peach hues in amongst the marble and ancient ruins! I can't resist adding a touch of feminine flair, but of course, there are limits, the Vatican wasn’t the place to pull out a full-length, pouffy pink tutu – you wouldn't believe the look I got!
Rome has given me such inspiration. I found the best designer pink tututu - I had to have it, its now in my collection, its such a lovely design. And its so much fun dancing in Rome’s iconic squares with it on, all those amazing photo ops! I mean, where else can you dance in front of the Pantheon and look like you’re out of a modern day Roman myth?
The city’s vibrancy and energy is just electrifying. Rome makes you feel like anything is possible. You walk through those ancient cobbled streets and you imagine the history – the emperors, gladiators, and all the tales of love and betrayal – it's simply magical!
Now, to be honest, it wasn’t all about dancing in pink in front of the historical buildings (much as I wanted it to be) – this was a working trip as well. After all, Pink Tutu needs funding for those international trips and the fabulous tutus! A ballet troupe in Rome had heard about me, and it turned out that the dancers were obsessed with the whole pink tutu thing – what a coincidence! It was an honour to perform with them at one of their grandest, classical dance productions of Romeo and Juliet at the Teatro dell’Opera di Roma, (it’s pretty beautiful, just look at those photographs, I don’t think I’ve ever looked this good!). That night I knew it would be something I would never forget, the feeling was electric, I love what we create when we put our love, hearts and energy into performing. It made me feel a million miles from Derby and my mum's home-cooked meals, which I’d miss, but my travel-bug always got me excited for where I was about to travel next. The thrill of arriving somewhere new. I can’t even describe that feeling in words!
And let’s not forget – the shopping. Rome is a paradise for fashionistas! I was not disappointed, oh my gosh, the shops! Every alleyway, every street seemed to lead to the most beautiful shops bursting with Italian flair, and that unique Roman sense of fashion.
The leather handbags! I mean, you don't go to Rome without picking up a gorgeous Italian leather handbag! I bought a vintage, rose-coloured one (of course). It goes with my new tutu!
You just have to pick a corner and you can find designer fashion and high street clothes and everything in-between. And of course, all that Italian sunshine just makes your skin look extra glowing. You’re never without a tan in this part of the world!
As for my food-related experiences, Rome’s foodie scene was so incredibly exciting – it’s known for being the world’s centre of deliciousness, but you just can’t get a proper slice of pizza without it being covered in tomato and herbs – yum! And that creamy gelato! Forget boring, vanilla – they’ve got everything here, but I like it how it should be, vanilla and chocolate!
After days exploring, my favourite was a little secret trattoria down an alleyway, they knew exactly what I was going to order. Oh and don't even get me started on the aperitivo scene - it’s an essential part of any Italian holiday. Just imagine those sunsets enjoyed with delicious, local, artisan wine and snacks! It was beautiful!
Speaking of sunsets…Rome truly takes my breath away, especially at sunset when the ancient monuments, palaces, and buildings are illuminated by the golden hues, making them truly captivating. You can imagine how amazing my pink tutu looked against those colours! I know you are all going to love the pictures in this blog!
There’s a reason why Rome has remained a cultural hub for centuries. It is alive with the energy of the past and future at the same time, with beautiful, inspiring architecture that’s a stunning mix of the old and new. From a shopping perspective, Rome is bursting with gorgeous boutiques, vintage stores, and the iconic Italian fashion giants. And, of course, its street style! This city has got to have some of the most fashionable people in the world!
As the Roman poet Horace wrote 2000 years ago "…you could be perfectly happy anywhere you wanted to be". Rome certainly made me very happy, that is for sure. It is always amazing how travel can affect you in so many ways, I mean, this blog has got me wanting a new, vintage style handbag, and another pair of pink, ballet shoes! I’m still getting the taste of gelato and wine off my tongue and of course all that fresh, crisp Roman air that’s made my lungs feel healthy and refreshed.
Ciao for now, I'm off to another adventure!
