Ciao bella! It's Emma here, writing to you live from the magical city of Rome, the Eternal City, where history whispers on every corner and the air itself sparkles with Italian sunshine. As I write this, my pink tutu swirls around me, catching the light of a twinkling Christmas tree just outside my hotel window. Today is Christmas Day, and oh my, itās been simply fabulous!
You might remember my recent announcement ā the Pink Tutu is off on a grand adventure around the world! Thatās right, this Christmas, I'm trading the chilly Derbyshire winter for the warm embrace of Italy, and what better place to do that than Rome, where ancient wonders meet modern day glamour?
I have to say, I feel like a character from a ballet ā a graceful, twirling, tutu-wearing princess, stepping into a beautiful storybook world. Iāve spent the last few days completely smitten with everything around me, the warm air, the colourful architecture, the bustling, lively streetsā¦Rome, you've truly captured my heart.
And speaking of capturing hearts, how did you all spend your Christmas Day? Did you feast on delicious Christmas treats, unwrap sparkly presents, and share joyful moments with your loved ones?
My Christmas started early this morning with a truly magical ballet experience! I watched āThe Nutcrackerā at Teatro dellāOpera di Roma, and the experience was nothing short of spectacular. I canāt begin to describe the costumes, the dancing, the sheer energy and passion of the performers, the orchestraā¦everything! From the beautiful opening act to the grand finale, I felt myself transported to a magical realm.
Afterward, I wandered the cobbled streets of Rome, admiring the breathtaking Christmas decorations. Everywhere I went, there were twinkling fairy lights strung across medieval buildings, vibrant Christmas markets, and the smell of fresh pine needles filling the air.
Of course, no Christmas in Rome would be complete without a visit to the Colosseum. The sight of this incredible monument was nothing short of awe-inspiring, a reminder of the rich history and grandeur of this remarkable city. Walking around its imposing exterior felt like walking through a portal to another time, filled with gladiatorial battles and Roman emperors.
As the sun began its descent, painting the sky in a beautiful array of pinks and oranges, I sat down on a quiet, cobblestoned square to enjoy a delicious Italian dinner of freshly made pasta with truffle oil and a decadent tiramisu. It was pure bliss!
Tonight, Rome sparkles with lights, making the entire city feel like a scene from a dream. I'm now sitting in my hotel room, with my laptop open and the pink tutu swirling around me, ready to share my Italian Christmas with all of you.
Speaking of which, do you know what I discovered on my Rome adventures? Not only is Rome filled with magnificent monuments and stunning sights, but it's also a haven for vintage clothing! Today, I unearthed a stunning vintage sequined dress at a quaint shop near the Pantheon, a piece so beautiful it made my heart sing.
Now, if youāre dreaming of exploring the fashion scene here in Rome, you have to check out the shops along Via Condotti. It's like stepping into a fairytale of high fashion, with luxurious boutiques boasting names like Gucci, Prada, and Fendi. But if, like me, you're more drawn to the magic of vintage treasures, then a stroll down Via del Governo Vecchio is a must.
Oh, and did you know Rome is a haven for beautiful shoe shops? I'm now the proud owner of a pair of elegant black velvet heels, a new addition to my Pink Tutu wardrobe. Iāll be wearing them tomorrow for a visit to the Vatican, one of the most sacred sites in the world. I can't wait to share that experience with you!
My time in Rome has been filled with wonder, from exploring its ancient ruins to sipping coffee in its charming squares. This city has something for everyone, no matter what your passion.
