Ciao, darling! It’s Emma here, your resident pink tutu enthusiast, writing to you from the Eternal City, Rome! Oh, it’s truly magical! The energy here is electric, the air thick with history and charm. I landed in Rome yesterday after a whirlwind train journey from my Derbyshire home. 🚄 I must confess, my tutu wasn't the most practical attire for a packed train, but I just can't seem to resist wearing it. It's all about spreading the pink tutu joy, after all! 😉
Today was all about immersing myself in the vibrant heart of the city. I started with a wander through the bustling Campo de’ Fiori market. Oh my, the colours! The sounds! The aromas! I felt like I was transported to a painting, with every stall showcasing the vibrant spirit of Italian life. The delicious smells of fresh pasta, the vibrant displays of juicy fruit, the handcrafted leather goods – it was a sensory overload! I couldn’t resist picking up a stunning handmade leather handbag with intricate floral patterns, just for me! 😍
Then, it was onto Piazza Navona, the heart of Rome’s artistic soul. Imagine, an ancient Roman stadium turned into a vibrant square! This square buzzed with street artists, performers, and musicians. A group of street performers were putting on a delightful show, incorporating elements of traditional Italian dance, and I felt myself instantly transported back in time. I swear I even caught a glimpse of ancient Roman warriors performing their ceremonial dances!
Of course, no trip to Rome is complete without visiting the Colosseum! It’s even more breathtaking in person, this majestic, crumbling monument to Roman history. It's almost impossible to imagine the gladiators and the crowds, but I could almost hear their roars! And don’t get me started on the views of the Roman Forum from atop the Colosseum! Honestly, it felt like I was stepping back into the past, with a breathtaking vista spanning across millennia.
Later this evening, I was so lucky to get tickets to an incredible performance of La Traviata at the Teatro dell’Opera di Roma! You guys, I was literally blown away! The operatic voices soared through the historic theatre, the dancers were ethereal, and the costumes were pure artistry. I was mesmerized by the drama, the passion, and the sheer beauty of it all. The performance had me crying, laughing, and clapping in equal measure, it was truly an unforgettable experience!
As the night came down, I strolled through the magical streets of Rome. I stumbled upon a small, cosy wine bar nestled amongst cobblestone alleys and sipped a delicious local vino with a delicious cheese plate. The ambiance was magical, the music soothing, the conversations light, and I couldn’t help but feel truly happy and grateful for this experience.
I'm absolutely loving Rome! This city feels full of magic, and I’m still so surprised by its diverse mix of cultures and its stunning blend of modern and ancient architecture. I’m already planning my next adventures in Rome. I can’t wait to explore the Vatican City, try some authentic Italian pasta, and discover more hidden gems within this amazing city!
Now, let’s talk about fashion! Rome, just like my pink tutus, is a visual feast! The streets are a kaleidoscope of style, and every corner reveals a new fashion inspiration. I’ve seen locals sporting some amazing, daring looks, from sleek Italian tailoring to eclectic streetwear styles, and let's not forget the fabulous, colourful, and undeniably Italian flair that they all carry themselves with!
Today, I kept it chic and classic with a gorgeous vintage pink midi dress with a fitted bodice, a dramatic, wide A-line skirt, and an elegant bow detail at the back. I paired it with my go-to, sparkling ballet flats, my favourite statement necklace featuring a pastel pink rose pendant, and my trusty pink tulle tote bag, obviously! And of course, I completed the look with a twirling-ready, frilly pink tulle tutu over the skirt. As always, the focus is on bringing a touch of whimsy and joy to the streets!
The whole look was absolutely fabulous, a delightful nod to the feminine grace and glamour that defines Rome itself! It brought a bit of pink tutu magic to this already magnificent city! Who knows, maybe I’ll inspire a few fellow Romans to embrace the pink tutu life too!
