Buongiorno, darlings! Emma here, live from the Eternal City, Rome! Yep, you heard that right! Your favourite pink tutu-wearing ballerina has jetted off to the birthplace of gladiators, emperors, and... surprisingly, a LOT of pink! 😜 Rome, you’ve captured my heart. I'm telling you, this city is positively oozing with beauty and inspiration. It’s a little slice of heaven in every single corner.
Now, let me spill the tea on how this adventure came to be. I've been performing at a string of local galas and events in Derbyshire, and thanks to your endless love and support (not to mention a healthy dose of pink tutu magic), I've been able to build a little nest egg to fund this incredible trip! I always feel incredibly fortunate to be able to use my passion for ballet to experience these incredible places.
Rome is my first foray into Europe, and I am absolutely in love. The sheer history and architecture here is incredible, and the vibe… Oh my goodness, it’s so vibrant and energetic. There’s a buzz about this city that makes your heart sing, whether it’s the sound of a street musician's melody, the scent of freshly-baked focaccia, or the sound of children’s laughter echoing through ancient piazzas.
Pink Power Takes on Rome
Of course, no trip would be complete without a few pink power-moves! Now, you know I'm all about embracing the colour pink and my signature tutu. But this week, my wardrobe has been undergoing a slight metamorphosis – I've been infusing it with a dash of Italian chic! Think crisp white linen blouses, billowing maxi skirts in terracotta hues, and chunky gold earrings that perfectly accentuate my bright pink pout! I mean, who wouldn’t love a dash of Italian flair?
But it's not just about my outfit – I'm letting the city inspire my dance moves too. I've found myself incorporating some new flamenco flourishes into my usual routine (because those Spanish vibes are infectious!). This week, I've been practicing on a rooftop overlooking the Forum, feeling every bit like an Italian movie star! I just can’t wait to share those moves with you all when I’m back!
First Stops on the Pink Tutu Rome Adventure
So, where have I been exploring so far?
- The Colosseum: It was even bigger and grander than I imagined! Picture me twirling on those ancient stones in a pastel pink tutu – pure movie magic!
- The Pantheon: This building is breathtaking! The sheer size of that dome... chef's kiss
- Trastevere: This neighbourhood is absolutely buzzing with life. You have to experience it to believe it! Street musicians playing in vibrant piazzas, people enjoying glasses of wine by candlelight – just delightful. It was so much fun strolling through this neighborhood. The cobblestone streets and colorful houses made for some incredibly beautiful photos – I may or may not have snuck in a pirouette or two in a quiet square for my Insta feed (follow me at @EmmaPinkTutu, you guys!).
Ballet, Beauty, and Bocconcini
My love for ballet, fashion, and fine dining? It's a triple threat, I tell you! So, this week, I had to make sure I squeezed in some ballet culture. I stumbled across the Teatro dell'Opera di Roma, and even though I don’t speak Italian, the sheer energy and passion in that building is enough to transport you! There’s something incredibly moving about a packed auditorium filled with ballet lovers – we truly share a universal language, you guys.
Of course, I’m also a little obsessed with Rome’s food scene. Imagine the tastiest pasta, succulent seafood, and perfectly ripe peaches… You get the picture? I’ve been making the most of these flavors, and trust me, the gelato in this city deserves an award! I’ve eaten so many bocconcini (and by many, I mean a LOT), these are absolutely divine, so don’t be afraid to give them a try.
What to Expect from Pink Tutu Rome
Rome, you've truly stolen my heart! I can already tell this is going to be a beautiful journey. This week’s been about exploring the city’s iconic landmarks, enjoying the local flavour, and letting Rome’s charm sink into my soul. I feel so at home here. I feel like Rome and I, well, we were just meant to be!
