Pink Tutu Rome: Ciao Bella! (Blog Post #1311)
Wednesday 2020-07-22
Buongiorno, darlings! It's your favourite pink tutu-wearing traveller, Emma, reporting live from the Eternal City ā Rome! And oh my, what a glorious city it is! Imagine the Colosseum, the Trevi Fountain, and the Pantheon, all sprinkled with the aroma of delicious pasta and espresso. I've got to tell you, this city is a real treat for the senses.
Now, if you know me, you know I love nothing more than travelling by train. The rhythmic clattering, the panoramic views, the chance to lose myself in a good book (or a cheeky scroll through my Insta feed!). It was a dream to journey from Derbyshire, England, right to the heart of Rome, and I can't wait to tell you all about my adventures!
But before we dive into the Roman wonders, let's talk about fashion. You see, a pink tutu isn't just an outfit, it's a statement! I believe in spreading the pink tutu love everywhere I go. Even amongst the cobblestone streets and ancient architecture, my vibrant tutu is sure to turn heads and spread some joy. (I'm already dreaming of a perfect Instagram photoshoot in front of the Trevi Fountain ā I mean, could it be any more picture-perfect?)
Day 1: An Ode to The Roman Forum
The day began with a stroll through the iconic Roman Forum, one of the most famous historical sites in the world. Standing amidst the crumbling ruins, I was awestruck by the sheer scale and grandeur of the ancient Roman Empire. It felt like stepping back in time, and the sheer history that permeated the air gave me goosebumps.
Speaking of goosebumps, did I mention that the Roman Forum has its very own Ballet Festival? Just imagine it: ancient ruins as the stage, the rhythmic sway of the dancers, and the passionate music that blends the past and the present. Now that's what I call a magical ballet experience! (I definitely will be putting a performance in my calendar next time!)
The day was packed with historical adventures and gelato delights, of course! And while the Pantheonās sheer magnificence was captivating, nothing prepared me for the sheer loveliness of the Trevi Fountain. The intricate carvings, the sparkling water, the promise of a coin tossed in ā Iām sure that the legend is true, and I'll be returning to this magical spot sooner rather than later!
Day 2: A Feast for the Senses
Now, letās talk about food! Rome, you are a culinary heaven. From steaming bowls of pasta to fragrant pizzas bursting with flavour, every meal was a treat for the senses. And you know me, Iāve been scouring the streets for the cutest pink cafes and gelato shops ā after all, whatās a travel blog without mentioning where to grab the sweetest treat!
But even a pink tutu princess needs some downtime, and that meant escaping the bustling city to visit Villa Borghese, one of Romeās most enchanting gardens. Picture me strolling amidst lush greenery, fragrant roses, and an art gallery featuring masterpieces by Bernini and Caravaggio! Now thatās what I call a cultural getaway!
Day 3: A Dress Rehearsal for a Show
This is where Iām getting all the real inspiration. Rome is abuzz with performing arts ā I even found a ballet school, can you believe it? I had to check it out of course, even getting a quick mini class and admiring their studio - pure bliss. They even had a performance at the Teatro Argentina last night which was brilliant. If youāre looking for a breathtaking cultural experience, you canāt miss out on the Rome Opera! I managed to grab some last minute tickets for a classic opera, āAidaā, a captivating performance that showcased the artistry and talent of Italyās opera singers. Honestly, it's the kind of experience you won't forget.
And while we are talking shows and performances, we can't forget the legendary Colosseum. It's a must-see for any visitor to Rome, a symbol of ancient Roman power. To be honest, Iām just dreaming about the possibilities of a special ballet performance under the Colosseum stars, a fusion of historical grandeur and theatrical flair - my tutu heart would literally melt!
But back to real-life. You can't go to Rome and not wander through the Piazza Navona! Filled with street performers and the captivating Fontana dei Quattro Fiumi fountain - just wow! The vibrant atmosphere and the historical treasures at every turn kept me entertained all evening. Rome really knows how to keep you on your toes!
Day 4: Ciao Bella!
As I bid farewell to the Eternal City, my heart feels filled with the wonder of discovery, the aroma of delicious pasta, and the undeniable allure of this enchanting city.
Rome has it all: ancient history, beautiful art, delicious food, captivating ballet, and more. I even had the pleasure of meeting a delightful ballet teacher at a small, independent studio called Studio di Danza. You should see their studentsā enthusiasm and dedication to their craft - it's a reminder of how inspiring and life-changing the arts can be!
Now, if you are dreaming of visiting Rome, let me leave you with a bit of pink-tutu advice. Grab your brightest tutu, embrace your inner fashionista, and get ready to be mesmerised! Rome, youāve already stolen a part of my heart, and I know that you'll welcome me back with open arms again soon. Ciao Bella!
