Pink Tutu Rome: A Ballerina’s Dream Come True! (Blog Post #1313)

Ciao bellas! It's Wednesday, which means it's time for another dose of pink-tutu-infused travel magic from yours truly, Emma, reporting live from the Eternal City!

I’m here in Rome, Italy, a city that truly feels like it’s been lifted straight out of a fairytale. The cobblestone streets, the majestic architecture, the vibrant energy, the delicious food - I’m already in love! It's no wonder the Romans worshipped so many gods. They really had something special going on in this city, centuries ago!

Of course, as you all know, this pink-tutu-wearing blogger wouldn’t be here without the help of a little magic - the magic of dancing! I’ve been busting some serious moves in recent weeks, performing at some incredible venues, which has generously funded my trip to Rome. I’m so grateful for the joy I can bring to people with my ballet - it allows me to travel the world and share these wonderful experiences with all of you!

Rome has always been on my travel bucket list, mainly because it’s such a historical hub, but it also holds a very special place in my heart as a ballerina. Ever since I saw a performance of Swan Lake here, I’ve dreamed of gracing its stage someday! There's something incredibly captivating about dancing in such a historic and artistic city, feeling the energy of all the ballerinas who came before.

But this trip is not all about ballet - although it plays a big part! Today is all about discovering the wonders of Rome, indulging in some fantastic fashion, and enjoying the delicious Italian food that’s been calling to my tastebuds since the minute I landed! I love immersing myself in the culture of every place I visit, soaking up everything I can - especially the fashion!

My outfit for today’s adventure is all about pink, of course, and you won't be surprised to hear it involves a tutu. It's a whimsical tulle number in blush pink, paired with a silk cream top, some sparkly pink sandals, and a beautiful rose-gold chain with a small heart pendant – perfect for a touch of Roman romance. You might say it's my little homage to the Roman goddess of love, Venus, a symbol of beauty and elegance!

Morning: Ancient Wonders and Delicious Coffee

We started our day at the Colosseum, and it was even more impressive than I imagined! Standing in the middle of this magnificent structure, you can truly feel the history all around you. It's a reminder of how enduring these ancient monuments are and the power of human creativity and collaboration. I found myself utterly mesmerized, imagining the gladiators fighting in the arena, the roar of the crowd - a thrilling blend of history and imagination!

I don’t know about you lovelies, but a bit of shopping always feels good after a good dose of history! So we strolled over to the Forum, another iconic landmark and a real highlight for me! The atmosphere here was truly unique - all the crumbled remains of temples, arches, and basilicas gave me a real sense of connection to the ancient Romans. The area had the most delightful shops too - we stumbled upon the coolest boutiques that had incredible designer bags and jewellery! But alas, I have a tight budget, and saving for the next trip, right?!

I'm so addicted to Italian coffee! It was absolutely delicious and it’s amazing how they take coffee making as seriously as they take fashion in Italy. We were treated to some of the finest espresso and cappuccinos, paired with some heavenly croissants, of course, which, in Rome, are called "cornetti."

Afternoon: Exploring Roman Glamour

The Pantheon was next, with its magnificent dome and perfectly balanced architecture, a true testament to Roman ingenuity. The light streaming through the opening at the top was absolutely stunning, giving the whole structure a spiritual feeling.

We then headed to a fantastic vintage clothing store, called "Sartoria Italia," hidden away in a little backstreet off Via del Corso, one of Rome’s main shopping arteries. It was bursting with amazing finds, everything from stunning gowns to vintage fur coats to cool 70s platform shoes. I managed to score an incredible cream satin blouse with beautiful gold buttons and a stylish pair of brown leather boots, just perfect for evening strolls in the Italian sunshine. It felt amazing to find unique pieces that were made with such care and attention to detail - and best of all, they were absolute bargains!

We capped off our day with a delectable traditional Italian meal - pizza and pasta, of course! Oh my, you haven't tasted pizza until you've tasted the Roman pizza. The crust was thin, chewy, perfectly crispy, and drizzled with the most amazing garlic olive oil - heavenly! We devoured plates of penne carbonara and followed it with a slice of rich tiramisu, a beautiful concoction of coffee, mascarpone cheese and sponge. I had never realised how satisfying it can be to have three courses in one sitting until I arrived here!

Evening: A Touch of Roman Romance

As dusk descended, I swapped my trusty ballerina flats for some elegant pink-gold heeled sandals and donned a floral print midi skirt, adding a touch of colour and romance to my ensemble.

We spent the evening wandering through the Piazza Navona, soaking in the energy of the lively crowds and admiring the artistry of the street performers. There was so much laughter and joy in the air, with children giggling and families enjoying ice cream while street musicians played some delightful tunes!

From the Piazza Navona, we made our way through the enchanting narrow alleys of Trastevere, where every corner unveiled a charming little cafe or artisan shop. There was a definite bohemian vibe here, with artists displaying their work on street corners, and vintage clothing stalls lined up along the alleyways.

Rome has a unique atmosphere – the energy is both vibrant and laid-back. The city never seems to sleep, and it’s captivating to witness its people embrace life at all hours of the day and night!

To complete my perfect Roman evening, we ended with a stroll over the iconic Ponte Sisto, with its breathtaking view of St. Peter’s Basilica in the distance, its magnificent dome illuminated against the night sky. This was truly the most incredible way to round off our adventure for the day, adding a touch of magic and romance to the air!

Every corner is bursting with creativity, and I’m already in love with its charm. If you haven’t been to Rome yet, add it to your bucket list, you won’t be disappointed!
