Pink Tutu Rome: #1314 Ciao Bella!

Well hello there darlings! It's Wednesday, which means it's time for my weekly Pink Tutu Rome adventure! I'm currently sipping a lovely cappuccino in a gorgeous cafe on the Via Condotti, surrounded by designer boutiques that have stolen my heart and my bank balance (I'll tell you all about those later!) I’m actually feeling rather pleased with myself for managing to snaffle a table in the shade, after my whirlwind of a morning. But I wouldn't have it any other way, it's all part of the Pink Tutu charm!

This week, darling, Rome is practically bursting with culture, and my itinerary's a busy one. The sun is shining, the city's buzzing, and I’m practically giddy with excitement. As usual, I'm in full Pink Tutu glory – this week it’s my shimmering lilac tulle number, perfect for navigating the cobblestone streets and soaking up the Roman sunshine. I just adore the way the fabric catches the light – it's like I'm a walking disco ball!

The Quirky Charm of Roman Taxis

I’ve been to Rome several times, you see. But, you can't go exploring this magnificent city without at least one ride in a genuine, quirky Roman taxi! Now, these aren’t your standard black cabs. No, they’re the epitome of Roman character - vintage Fiat Fiats, usually yellow, or the odd rust-brown one, always crammed full of personality (and sometimes luggage!). We somehow managed to cram my tutu-clad self and a mountain of shopping bags into the taxi and navigated the chaotic, but oh-so-charming streets of Rome. The honking, the traffic, the street food sellers – it's all just a delicious part of the Roman experience.

A Glimpse of Ancient Glory: The Colosseum

My day began, naturally, with a good dose of culture! I spent the morning strolling through the mighty Colosseum. Goodness gracious, the scale of it! It really did take my breath away – you simply can't imagine the sheer power and grandeur of this ancient amphitheater until you see it in person. It truly was awe-inspiring to see the thousands of spectators once sat there cheering for the gladiators!

A Dance with History

As we all know, I’m a creature of ballet and dancing. Naturally, the Colosseum is more than a historical site for me, I have to admit, I can’t resist visualizing graceful dancers swirling beneath those arched ceilings. Just imagine the ballets you could stage in there! There's simply so much space for elaborate choreography. You can almost hear the swish of tulle and the echoing strains of Tchaikovsky's Swan Lake. The Colosseum, with its captivating history, makes the perfect setting for any grand ballet or operatic spectacle!

The Roman Pantheon: A Feast for the Eyes

No trip to Rome is complete without a visit to the magnificent Pantheon. I spent the afternoon exploring its breathtaking architecture – a masterpiece of ancient design that still wows and inspires to this day. The awe-inspiring dome, bathed in soft sunlight filtering through the iconic oculus – truly it was a feast for the senses! Just like every grand ballerina performance, it's so elegantly detailed, every corner brimming with stories of the past, and oh my dear, it’s beautifully symmetrical too – and perfectly in tune with the Pink Tutu vibe. Don't forget the Roman Forum, this stunning complex just whispers history – it's a definite must-see, darlings.

Shopping for the Ballet Wardrobe of Dreams!

I simply cannot resist a spot of shopping on my trips to Rome. So, in the evening, after another amazing, multi-course Roman feast (did I mention how much I love the food in this city?), we made our way back to Via Condotti, for a dose of designer delights. Of course, I simply have to indulge my fashion passion, with some much-needed purchases for my expanding Pink Tutu wardrobe. You’ll be seeing some fabulous new pieces gracing my Instagram, soon. Keep your eyes peeled!

Travel Notes for my Tutu-Wearing Friends!

I'll be writing about my fashion adventures in Rome later this week – trust me, you won't be disappointed! However, for my fellow travel-loving ballerinas out there, there's some important stuff I wanted to share!

Firstly, Rome's train system is fabulous – a beautiful way to explore this beautiful city! The lines are extensive, clean, easy to navigate, and pretty fast. I was delighted by the ease with which you can whiz about from one part of the city to the next – perfect for my tutu-wearing explorations. Just remember your trusty travel card to stay ahead of the game!

Secondly, a visit to the Teatro dell’Opera di Roma is an absolute must. Their ballets are world-class and beautifully performed! I'll be reviewing my latest experience on the Pink Tutu website next week! I cannot recommend it enough to you dear tutu lovers.

This Week’s Ballet Pick

I'm excited, this week I'm going to see Swan Lake at the beautiful Teatro dell'Opera di Roma! The legendary Tchaikovsky score, it truly will be a spectacle, and, well, you all know how much I adore Swan Lake, and I will be writing about this in detail in next Wednesday’s blog.

So there you have it, my dearest friends. My Roman adventure is in full swing! Don't forget to check back next week for another exciting Pink Tutu blog filled with Roman charm and a whole lot of tutu-infused magic. Remember darlings, "a little Pink Tutu can take you far!" I’ll leave you with some inspirational quotes:

“Wear your passion on your sleeves, but your confidence on your heart”

“Remember that, the most powerful way to do magic is to believe you’re already there"

Until next week! Ciao for now, darling!
Emma xoxo
