Pink Tutu Rome: Ciao Bella! - Post 1315

Hello my darling dears, and welcome back to Pink Tutu Rome! It's Wednesday, which means a brand new blog post for your reading pleasure - and this week I'm brimming with excitement to share my Italian adventures! This is a very special week for me, not just because I'm in the Eternal City, but becauseā€¦ it's my 25th birthday!

Yes, that's right! This little Pink Tutu princess is a quarter of a century old, and celebrating in style! And what better place to do that than the gorgeous, romantic, breathtaking Rome? I've always dreamt of visiting this historical masterpiece, a city so steeped in culture, with art, architecture, fashion and food all in equal measure! I mean, come on! How could I resist?

Train Travel in Style

This week started with a very stylish journey. You see, I love trains! There's something so quintessentially glamorous about being whisked away through the countryside in a luxurious carriage. It allows me to completely unwind, read a fabulous book, listen to some opera, and gaze at the beautiful rolling hillsā€¦ and of course, there's time for some serious fashion planning for the adventures to come!

The journey to Rome, a rather leisurely nine-hour affair from Derby (yes, you guessed it, I'm a Derbyshire girl at heart!), was the perfect opportunity to try out my newest tutu. You might be thinking - how can a tutu work for train travel? Well, my dear, you'd be surprised. It was a delicate, dusky pink creation with a layer of sheer black tulle for a little edge - very Parisian, wouldn't you say? Paired with my favourite black beret and an emerald green vintage jacket, I felt like an off-duty ballerina, ready for the next adventure! I even managed to squeeze in a little impromptu street performance at a train station platform (everyone was thrilled!), because what's life without a bit of ballet?

My Italian Debut: A Ballet Extravaganza

Arriving in Rome was a truly exhilarating moment! From the first glimpse of the Colosseum, to the bustling streets of the Trastevere neighbourhood, the city vibrated with life. And speaking of vibrant life, that's exactly what the Rome Opera House presented to me last night!

For the past week, I've been busy researching ballet performances in the city. And to my delight, "La BohĆØme" was showing! Now, I must confess I was so starstruck that I forgot to bring my trusty selfie stick (rookie mistake, I know). But you can bet I took the opportunity to soak in every nuance of this powerful ballet. The dramatic choreography, the passionate performancesā€¦ it was a truly unforgettable experience. And it gave me plenty of inspiration for my own routines!

Pink Power: Finding my Italian Style

And now to my absolute favourite part of the trip - the fashion! The Italians are undeniably stylish and that infectious spirit of confidence was immediately apparent as I stepped off the train! Their effortless chic, and the way they make classic pieces sing, is a true inspiration. It seems Rome has inspired a new creative burst in my wardrobe too!

Yesterday, I wandered through the streets of Trastevere, letting the cobblestone streets and bustling cafes fuel my creativity. You can never have too many colourful dresses or shimmering silk tops, can you? I ended up finding a delightful boutique filled with whimsical, floral printed frocks. One in particular caught my eye - a vintage, pink and cream number that looked like it had been designed for a ballerina like me. Letā€™s just say I wonā€™t be travelling home without it!

Pizza, Pasta and Pink Prosecco - Italian Indulgences!

Today's a birthday, and I'm treating myself to a proper Italian celebration! Breakfast was delicious fresh pastries and strong coffee in a small, sunny cafe just down the road. For lunch? Why, a plate piled high with the most incredible pasta, naturally. I went for a decadent carbonara, with a generous sprinkle of parmesan! And of course, thereā€™s a pink prosecco in my glass as I type this, which has to be a vital ingredient in my birthday fun!

And guess what else is happening today? An absolutely wonderful Opera show! This time, I'm going to see ā€œLa Traviataā€, another one of my absolute favourites! Itā€™s the perfect way to spend a birthday, surrounded by exquisite art and captivating music.

Spreading Pink Tutu Love

One of the best parts of traveling is meeting people from all over the world. Here in Rome, everyone is so friendly and curious. I even had a small group of school children follow me down a street shouting "Tutu! Tutu!" - which made me giggle and, of course, I had to give them a little impromptu spin, spreading the Pink Tutu joy to a whole new generation!

Ciao, Bella, until next time!

And with that, my dears, I must leave you, but rest assured that my Roman adventures are far from over. This city is alive with enchantment, and I'll be sharing my experiences every week on my Pink Tutu blog!

Follow my adventures and don't forget - keep on twirling!

Love,

Emma
