#PinkTutuRome: Ciao Bella from Rome! (Post 1316)
Buongiorno, darlings! Welcome back to Pink Tutu's weekly Roman adventures! I can't believe it's Wednesday already, the days are just flying by. This week has been a whirl of beautiful architecture, delicious food, and of course, plenty of pink tulle!
Now, I know you're all dying to hear about my exploits so let's dive right in. I’ve decided to devote this week’s post to our favourite Roman tourist hotspots - we've just returned from exploring the Trevi Fountain, the Pantheon and the Colosseum!
Tutuing Through Time
As the train pulled into Termini station I just knew that Rome was going to be incredible, and my heart skipped a beat. This beautiful, ancient city is literally bursting with history and a certain romanticism you can’t help but fall in love with. My very first stop in this breathtaking city? Well, you know me, I’ve just got to be pink. It just wouldn't feel right being anywhere else in a full-on pink outfit, complete with the obligatory tulle tutu and feather boa!
Oh my goodness, Rome is so photogenic. I literally have hundreds of pictures. You won't be surprised to hear that I did most of them at the Trevi Fountain - where you HAVE to toss a coin in for good luck, right?! Of course, the Fountain had to be photographed from all angles - both for my Instagram (check out my #PinkTutuRome stories for my latest Roman updates), and of course for my fabulous website, PinkTutu.com. It's quite tricky to get the right angle while twirling, though!
Pantheon Perfection
Next on the list, a visit to the Pantheon - that giant, beautifully domed structure right in the heart of Rome. It is utterly awe inspiring, and absolutely worth a look inside. I can't get over the architectural masterpiece that it is. If only I could wear a tutu inside the Pantheon, though... alas, no spinning there, just a lot of posing with my back straight and my arms held beautifully en pointe - it’s almost as impressive as the Roman history itself, ha!
Colosseum Chic
Now for a real treat, the Colosseum! Can you believe we get to walk around this historic venue that was once a gladiator’s fighting arena - I’ve literally spent my entire childhood playing games pretending to be a warrior and a gladiatorial champion! And the architecture, even all these centuries later, still leaves me in awe! If I’m honest I think I was too busy soaking it all up, enjoying the sights, and trying to imagine the excitement, drama, and danger of the battles, that I didn’t take one picture in front of this impressive monolithic stone giant!
I did do some more sightseeing of course, all that amazing food meant a LOT of walking and of course lots of opportunities to take pictures - although it was very busy everywhere we went, it really didn’t bother me because every time we rounded a corner or wandered down a new street, something new would take my breath away, there was so much history, beauty, and charm. Rome is certainly a city to be explored at a leisurely pace with plenty of time for the perfect picture at every turn!
From Ballet to Ballet Shoes!
Oh my goodness, Rome is truly the shopper's paradise - so much fashion, colour and flair. Now this may come as a shock, but there is this whole other aspect to the shopping scene in Rome - Ballet, darling, ballet. I mean the gorgeous ballet slippers!
Now it just so happens that I need a pair of new ones, I don’t mean shoes, darling, ballet shoes of course. I’ve been dancing and performing since I was a girl in my tiny village in Derbyshire, England and as all you true ballerinas out there know, shoes have a special place in a dancer’s heart. So, it was with such joy, that I found myself indulging in the finest Italian craftsmanship, browsing the incredible selection of beautiful dancewear, shoes and accessories at ‘Il Ballerino’! What was a 10-minute pit stop, suddenly became two hours (well when you see the amazing shoes on display, you don’t have to wonder why). I came away with my latest must have for any fashionista: a pair of beautiful pink ballet slippers (with matching pink glitter).
Of course, my Roman adventures will continue - next week you can hear all about how my new ballet shoes and I, discovered a new dance studio. You don’t want to miss this! Until next week darlings - #PinkTutuRome and don't forget to spread the tutu love - we'll be pinking up the world, one tutu at a time!
