Pink Tutu Rome: Post #1319: The Eternal City in a Pink Tutu!
Hello darlings! It's Wednesday, which means it's time for another Pink Tutu Rome adventure! Today, I'm positively bursting with excitement, because we're diving headfirst into the heart of the Eternal City!
From my home in the green hills of Derbyshire, the journey to Rome feels like stepping back in time. I just adore the gentle sway of the train carriage, the whisper of conversation in Italian, and the delicious whiff of coffee wafting in from the buffet car. I wouldn't be surprised to see a glamorous diva or a dashing, mustachioed Roman gentleman walk through the doors at any moment!
The moment I set foot in Rome, it was like a magical, colourful dream. The vibrant, sun-soaked squares, the fountains with playful dolphins and giggling nymphs, and of course, the glorious gelato! ๐ฆ (Don't worry, I made sure my pink tutu was completely safe from the sprinkles! ๐คซ)
Of course, a trip to Rome isn't complete without exploring its incredible history! Yesterday, I twirled through the Colosseum. It's utterly majestic, and it sent shivers down my spine just imagining all the gladiatorial battles that have happened there!
Speaking of history, my pink tutu got a real workout when we visited the Trevi Fountain. Legend has it that if you throw a coin in, you're destined to return to Rome! So naturally, I tossed in a shiny euro, just in case. ๐ You see, darling, a tutu is an absolute must-have when exploring ancient Rome. The rustling fabric, the swirl of pink as you dance around the monuments, the sheer joy it brings โ well, it's positively transformative!
Yesterday, we also caught a delightful little show at the Teatro dell'Opera di Roma! Oh, darling, you won't believe the exquisite costumes, the intricate choreography, the pure passion! It's no wonder Italians are known for their love of art and performance.
Speaking of performances, did you know I've been touring with the National Ballet in Derbyshire recently? It was absolutely fabulous! The crowds were roaring for our 'Pink Tutu Fantasy' finale, where all the dancers โ yes, all of us โ were clad in gloriously fluffy pink tutus. Just seeing those delighted faces in the audience... It truly is why I do what I do! ๐
So, if you're dreaming of experiencing Rome, dear reader, don't let it wait. Just pack your biggest, most vibrant pink tutu, throw a coin in the Trevi Fountain, and prepare to be absolutely charmed by this magnificent city!
Oh, and I just wanted to share a quick note: if you ever visit Rome and fancy seeing a ballerina wearing pink and twirling in a tutu, don't be shy โ come and say hello! You never know, maybe we'll even be performing at the Teatro dell'Opera ourselves one day!
Until next week, darling!
Yours truly,
Emma x
What's Happening in Rome on September 16th, 2020On the day this blog was written, the 16th of September, 2020, a whole heap of wonderful things were happening in Rome.
- Fashion: Rome Fashion Week was in full swing, and designers from all over Italy (and the world!) were presenting their new collections. This was my ultimate excuse to do a little shopping in the famous Via Condotti. You'd be surprised at how easy it is to find fabulous pink-themed pieces in the city! ๐๏ธ
- History: The Vatican Museums were showcasing a special exhibit on Ancient Egyptian art. It's fascinating how so many of their beliefs and artistic practices have been absorbed into Roman culture throughout history. I couldn't help but envision an ancient Roman ballerina twirling in a pale pink tunic (imagine the beautiful colour play against the gold and terracotta walls!) ๐ฉฐ
- Food: * A fabulous festival dedicated to *pasta was happening in Trastevere, the adorable neighborhood known for its charming cobblestone streets and hidden trattorias. Honestly, I can't think of a better place to celebrate all things pink-and-delicious. You bet I had to sample a pasta dish (and maybe an extra scoop of pink gelato)! ๐
Next week, dear reader, we'll be delving deeper into the hidden gems of Rome. I can already see myself sipping cappuccino with the locals in a hidden piazza, learning a little about Roman ballet from the most charming dance teacher imaginable, and indulging in an absolutely decadent pasta meal at one of those fantastic Trattorias in Trastevere!
Stay tuned for my next post, darling, where we'll uncover all the delights of Rome. I promise to bring plenty of pink and sparkles! ๐ โจ
