Pink Tutu Rome: A Whirlwind of Fashion and Fountains! (Post #1329)

Ciao bella!

This week, it's time to whisk you off to the Eternal City, my dears! Yes, it's Wednesday, and that means a new Pink Tutu adventure. This time, I've traded the cobbled streets of Derbyshire for the glorious ancient stones of Rome. And as always, I brought my pink tutu with me!

This little frock, let me tell you, is a true travelling companion. It's been with me all over the globe, from Paris to Prague, New York to Tokyo, and it's never failed to bring a touch of joy and elegance to every adventure.

It's just what I needed as I hopped on that iconic red Eurostar train, leaving London behind and leaving behind the dreary November chill for the Italian sun! My excitement built with each kilometre, and as we hurtled towards Rome, my mind danced with images of glorious history, mouthwatering food, and of course, beautiful fashion!

And Rome did not disappoint! My arrival in the Termini station was met with the intoxicating smell of fresh espresso and the bustling energy of this grand city. The moment I stepped outside, I was greeted by the breathtaking skyline – ancient Roman ruins, towering churches, and charming cobblestone streets. I couldn't wait to get lost in its magic!

I'm staying in a gorgeous little B&B tucked away on a quiet side street, just a hop, skip, and a twirl away from the Colosseum. The owner, a lovely Italian lady named Isabella, greeted me with warm smiles and a charming Tuscan accent, like music to my ears. She even had a bowl of fresh-baked cannoli on the counter – you just can't beat that kind of Italian hospitality!

And of course, no trip to Rome is complete without a little shopping! After settling in, I ventured into the city centre, mesmerized by the street-side boutiques overflowing with exquisite leather goods and artisanal designs. I scooped up some gorgeous pink accessories – a delicate scarf for evenings, and a chic leather tote for daytime excursions, both perfect to compliment my tutu, naturally. My luggage was suddenly feeling quite full but hey, a girl has to have options, right?!

The next day, I felt like a true Roman princess! I spent the morning touring the awe-inspiring Colosseum, imagining gladiators battling under the scorching Roman sun. It's an experience that takes your breath away, so rich in history. After lunch, I visited the Trevi Fountain, and did a twirl (what else?!), tossing a coin into the water to ensure a return to this beautiful city. That evening, I dined at a romantic little trattoria in the Trastevere district, relishing the most delicious carbonara and the infectious energy of the locals.

Today, Wednesday, it was a chance to immerse myself in the beauty of Roman art and culture! After an energetic barre class at the lovely dance studio near my B&B (where my pink tutu naturally caught many an admiring glance) I headed for the Galleria Borghese. This elegant museum houses stunning works by Bernini and Caravaggio. I lost myself in the artistry, each brushstroke speaking of love, passion, and grace – just like my beloved ballet!

Later this afternoon, I’m catching a breathtaking performance at the Teatro dell’Opera di Roma! The Italian Opera scene is legendary, and I cannot wait to feel the electrifying power of music and dance under those golden chandeliers. Oh, how I adore a good show!

But what are Wednesdays without a touch of Pink Tutu magic? I plan to share my passion by taking my ballerina style to the streets of Rome. I am going to take part in a free ballet demonstration class at the Piazza Navona, and I'm so excited to invite all passers-by to join in, in this celebration of graceful movement and community spirit. Just imagine! The iconic Piazza, with its beautiful fountains and ancient ruins, the sound of music in the air, and the joy of movement... It's going to be a perfect Wednesday!

Of course, no Pink Tutu Rome adventure would be complete without sharing my tips for a truly magical experience:
