Pink Tutu Rome: #1341 - Ciao Bella, Italia!

Hello darling dears, and welcome back to another edition of Pink Tutu Rome! It's Wednesday, February 17th, 2021, and as you all know, that means it's time for a new blog post from your favourite pink-loving ballerina on the go!

From Derbyshire to the Eternal City

Last week, I was pirouette-ing my way across Derbyshire, twirling and teaching in a lovely little village hall. This week, I'm taking you with me to the cobbled streets of Rome! That's right, darling, I'm on a whirlwind trip to Italy, thanks to my recent success performing at the prestigious West End ballet showcase. Remember that stunning performance in my pink and gold sequined tutu? Well, the critics adored it and the crowds went wild! This little ballerina’s earning her keep and you can’t beat the thrill of taking centre stage under those bright lights, not to mention, the incredible bonus of funding my trips!

Trains and Travel - It’s All About The Journey!

My trusty train took me through the French countryside – those stunning lavender fields are definitely worth a blog post of their own – before reaching Italy. It was then a hop, skip, and jump on the Metro into Rome. Oh, the journey was just as fun as the destination! If you haven't experienced the romance of European train travel, do yourself a favour and make it happen!

Finding My Pink Paradise

Rome is living up to all my wildest dreams, and I'm starting with a trip to Via Condotti, the home of luxury fashion. Think Valentino, Chanel, Gucci, Prada, the works! Now, darling, you know I'm not exactly on the runway myself, but it's a must-see for a pink tutu-wearing gal on a European adventure. You could call it cultural research. Just so I’m able to identify a bargain! 😉

Speaking of pink paradise, I simply had to check out the stunning pink Travertine stone. From fountains to the Colosseum, the colour of Rome is quite simply, exquisite. Even my shoes, which were definitely a tad less refined than those designer heels in the window, managed to look stylish on this romantic, colourful cobblestone.

Ballet Bliss

There’s no excuse not to see a ballet performance while in Italy! I just had to book a show at Teatro dell’Opera di Roma - the most stunning opera house you’ve ever seen. Honestly, even if the show wasn’t amazing, it was worth it for the décor and the general Italian ambiance. I mean, imagine twirling in those exquisite velvet seats with crystal chandeliers dangling above you - sheer ballet bliss! And of course, the performance was divine. You should see this Italian ballerinas move, with grace, elegance and poise, they truly put us English ladies to shame!

Food, Glorious Food

Of course, no trip to Italy is complete without an exploration of the local delicacies. I’m on a mission to find the most authentic pink gelato in the city, but I am tempted by the classic tiramisu, and, yes, a spot of Aperol Spritz too! It’s so much more than just delicious, darling, it’s part of the culture.

Roman Style and Elegance

I'm obsessed with Italian fashion! It’s effortlessly chic - the effortless hair flicks, that little something extra… and everyone dresses beautifully. If you've been following my journey you'll know my aim is to inspire you to wear a pink tutu wherever you are - well darling, in Rome, I feel right at home! And it's got me thinking, what if everyone in the world wore a pink tutu just one day a year… hmm? I need to brainstorm…

Fashion, Beauty, & Rome’s Magic

Later today, I'm headed to the Campo de’ Fiori market. You’ll find anything you can imagine - everything from the freshest local fruit and vegetables, to the most dazzling handbags. It's a real melting pot of colours, smells, and flavours - just my kind of place! Of course, a trip to Rome wouldn't be complete without a bit of pampering. I’ve found the most exquisite little salon tucked away on a back street with stunning vintage-inspired décor, a beautiful rose-scented facial, and a spot of retail therapy. Yes, I did buy myself a fabulous pink hair ribbon. Just to bring a little something back for my Pink Tutu fans at home. 😉

I hope you’re all enjoying your week! Until next Wednesday, don’t forget, a pink tutu is the perfect accessory for any adventure - keep twirling and never stop shining.

Love and twirls,

Emma x
