Pink Tutu Rome: Post #1348 - Ciao Bella!
Wednesday 2021-04-07
Sunshine, cobblestones, gelato, and... a pink tutu? It can only mean one thing: Emma's back in Rome, and this time, the Eternal City is experiencing a pink-tutu-infused whirlwind!
It's Wednesday, which means it's time for another installment of Pink Tutu Rome. It's been a while since I graced the Colosseum with my presence (well, maybe a month? š) but I've been busy flitting around the world on my pink tutued escapades. This time, I've arrived by train - because honestly, is there anything more glamorous than sipping champagne on a high-speed train, all the while twirling my tutu and basking in the glow of the setting sun? I certainly think not.
Now, before we embark on this delightful Roman adventure, a quick peek into my fashion forecast. As always, my outfit was a statement piece - a billowing, fuchsia tulle tutu, layered over a silk blush-pink slip dress. This sartorial masterpiece was punctuated with a smattering of sparkling gems - just enough to add a touch of Roman elegance.
Speaking of elegance, it was impossible not to be dazzled by the beauty of Rome's iconic landmarks. I spent the morning wandering the ancient Forum, taking in the awe-inspiring history, and trying not to step on any stray stray Roman cats (did you know Rome has more stray cats than people?! It's like a furry, feline haven!). Later, I took a trip to the Pantheon, admiring its magnificent dome and trying to ignore the insistent cries of my rumbling tummy.
And speaking of rumbles, lunch was a delightful feast of pasta carbonara and tiramisu at a charming little trattoria near the Pantheon. It's amazing how just a whiff of Italian cuisine can instantly transport you back in time.
After a delightful post-prandial nap (tutu-ing can be exhausting, you know), I decided to take a stroll down Via Condotti, the luxury shopping haven of Rome. And let's just say, it was pure heaven for a tutu-clad fashionista. The sleek window displays of Armani, Gucci, and Prada practically beckoned me inside.
Now, I must admit, I was feeling a tad conflicted. Part of me was overwhelmed with the desire to purchase everything in sight - that perfectly fitted, cherry red Dolce & Gabbana dress; a shimmering, rose gold handbag; and of course, a pair of those beautiful, blush-pink Louboutins (I swear, shoes always get me). But the rational part of my brain (and my bank balance!) whispered that a tutu-ing princess like me needs to practice a little restraint. So I reluctantly strolled onwards, vowing to return another day with a heavier wallet and a lighter heart.
Rome's beauty didn't stop there. After a pitstop for a (perfectly pink) gelato, I ventured towards Piazza Navona. The lively energy, the vibrant street performers, the sheer vibrancy of it all - it was just exhilarating. I even caught a street dance performance ā think tutus with a touch of contemporary flair. Talk about inspiring! I think it's time for me to brush up on my pas de bourrĆ©e technique, wouldn't you agree?
Speaking of inspiration, it wouldnāt be a trip to Rome without a ballet performance. This evening I was captivated by the Teatro dellāOpera di Roma. The dancersā fluidity, the graceful artistry, and of course the romantic story, had me enthralled. Every step, every pirouette, every arabesque was a visual poem, weaving together stories of love and longing.
After the performance, I retreated to my hotel ā a small, charming boutique hotel in the heart of Trastevere. Letās just say, I was beyond grateful to be back in the comforts of my cozy room, with a cup of tea in hand, and a mind full of inspiring sights and memories.
Now, letās rewind for a minute. Have I forgotten to mention the sheer joy of finding fellow tutu-lovers? Rome, for me, felt like a city teeming with fellow fashionistas, all willing to embrace the "Pink Tutu Movement.ā Even a dapper gentleman on the bus offered me a seat, saying "Your tutu makes my day, darling! What a lovely color!" And, who knows, maybe someday even Iāll see that man wearing a tutu. Maybeā¦ š
Rome, you've enchanted me once again. This pink tutu adventure will be a cherished memory - a reminder of sunshine, gelato, cobblestones, and a whole lot of sartorial wonder. As I prepare to write another chapter in my pink tutu story, Iām already planning my next trip. What will it be? Vienna? Paris? Oh, the possibilities!
Stay tuned, darling tutu-lovers. Until next week, I leave you with a few musings about todayās Rome adventure:
Rome, as they say, wasnāt built in a day, and it canāt be fully appreciated in a week, so make sure you dedicate ample time to truly explore this city's charm.
Indulge in all things gelato ā youāll thank me later!
Take a chance, explore those hidden corners, wander into little shops and hidden alleys and find your own slice of Rome magic.
And lastly, don't forget to be your most fabulous self ā wear a tutu and bring some sunshine to this enchanting city.
Stay sparkly!
