Pink Tutu Rome: A Whirlwind of Roman Charm (Post #1352)

Ciao bellas!

It’s Wednesday, which means it’s time for another #PinkTutuRome update! This week, I’m whisking you all off to the Eternal City – Rome! Oh my, Rome is so incredibly romantic and steeped in history. Just stepping off the train (a surprisingly comfortable journey, thank you very much!), I could feel the magic. This week, I’m sharing my whirlwind adventures in Rome with you. It’s going to be an absolute corker, darling!

As you all know, I’m a huge fan of the train, and arriving at Roma Termini station was such an experience! The grandeur of the building, with its vaulted ceilings and imposing arches, made me feel like I’d stepped onto the set of a historical drama. Then I saw them… a family wearing pink tutus, one for each of them! The mother, dressed in a luscious hot pink tulle, told me with a huge smile, "I read your blog, dear, it inspired me to wear a pink tutu today!" It was absolutely magical and almost brought a tear to my eye. After all, isn't that my life's aim - to get everyone twirling in a pink tutu?!

But before we get onto the sartorial side of things, let's talk about the Roman food. Oh my word! It’s utterly divine, a real feast for the senses! We've been sampling delicious pizza at tiny local cafes and savoring authentic pasta dishes in family-run trattorias. There’s been gelato in every flavour imaginable (raspberry, lemon, pistachio, strawberry – all devoured!), and even a sprinkle of limoncello on the side for good measure.

And of course, no trip to Rome is complete without exploring its historical marvels. We've strolled along the cobbled streets of the Trastevere neighbourhood, wandered through the ancient Roman Forum and marveled at the iconic Colosseum. It's like stepping back in time! The sense of history is truly overwhelming, I felt like I was right in the heart of the ancient world.

As a ballet aficionado, Rome has already presented a ballet treat! The Rome Opera House held a wonderful ballet performance last night. The ballet was 'Giselle', one of my absolute favourites! Seeing it brought to life on stage in Rome was incredibly special and left me with that delightful twinge of nostalgia in my heart.

Now, back to the fashion, darlings! You all know that I’m a bit of a shopaholic, and Rome is a sartorial dream! We’ve been wandering the quirky boutiques in the Monti neighbourhood, scouring the markets for unique treasures (did you know they even sell pink tutus here, how fabulous!) and indulging in some serious window shopping on the luxurious Via Condotti. A beautiful silk scarf, with a swirling pink rose pattern, was my latest find – so divine, perfect for a twirl!

Rome’s beauty isn't just limited to its grand architecture and delectable food. I've also found so much joy in simply strolling through the city, soaking up the ambiance and marveling at the beauty of its parks, piazzas, and gardens. There are vibrant green spaces dotted throughout the city, offering peaceful respite from the bustling crowds. I’ve fallen in love with a hidden little garden behind the Pantheon, so tranquil and breathtaking!

But my journey isn't just about soaking up the sights and sounds, I’ve already had some absolutely magical experiences meeting some lovely like-minded folks. I've even given some impromptu ballet lessons in the parks! Turns out, many of them share a secret love for dance, it’s all been rather heart-warming, to say the least!

And wouldn't you know it, the ballet world is in full bloom in Rome. I discovered a lovely dance studio in Trastevere where I'm attending a barre class this afternoon. Their pink tutu collection is something else - they have tutus in every shade of pink imaginable! Perhaps I’ll bring back a new pink tutu or two as souvenirs!

Tomorrow we’re venturing off on a day trip to Ostia Antica, the well-preserved ruins of an ancient Roman city. It's been recommended as a must-see, so I’m sure we’re in for a real treat. Oh, and don't forget the fabulous trattoria around the corner, that’s a must-visit too!

This trip has truly been a dream, a captivating mix of history, culture, and of course, the thrill of discovering a new pink tutu in an unsuspecting place! So far, this pink tutu has been spun around fountains, perched on top of statues, even tucked in the cobbles in front of a Roman arch. Who knew pink tutus were so well-suited to the sights of Rome!

Make sure you check back next Wednesday for my next blog post! I'll be sharing all about our day trip to Ostia Antica, our fashion finds, and, of course, what delectable treats we indulged in!

Ciao for now, and happy twirling!
