Pink Tutu Rome: Ciao Bella! (Post #1356)

Wednesday 2021-06-02

Buongiorno, darling readers! šŸ©°

It's Emma, your pink tutu-clad travel blogger, and I'm beaming from Rome! I just had to share the latest adventures of my Pink Tutu journey. The city of love and ancient wonder has definitely been sprinkled with some of my favourite pink dust.

As many of you know, this week's theme on www.pink-tutu.com is Rome! Yes, darling readers, you heard it right, Iā€™m in Rome, and I'm bringing the Pink Tutu Love straight to the heart of Italy! I just adore travelling by train; it gives me a chance to relax, look at the world go by and write up my latest blog post. šŸš„

This trip's been a whirl, just like a pirouette in a pink tutu. Itā€™s definitely not just the hot, sunny Italian weather! ā˜€ļø It's the city's charm, its history, its energy - itā€™s all swirling together like a beautiful balletic spectacle. And trust me, I've been watching a lot of ballets! More about that later!

This whole adventure started last week in the rolling hills of Derbyshire, home of the peak district and my home! Last Thursday I gave my third performance this month, this one at the Peak District Community Hall, for a charity event and as always, the Pink Tutu was the star of the show, alongside my rendition of Sleeping Beauty ! Of course, the Sleeping Beauty costume came with the most beautiful shade of pink, so needless to say I managed to secure donations from several new pink-tutu converts at the performance, which will help me with my next trip, who knows, perhaps Paris, or possibly Prague? Ooh! A Pink Tutu Prague post... that would be amazing! I can already picture the photos. šŸ¤©

After the performance, I was feeling very ā€˜pink-tutu-motivatedā€™ and with an abundance of energy, I started to prepare for my trip to Rome, as you know, one must have the right tutu, so it was back to the dressing room, sorting through all of my outfits, choosing just the perfect Pink Tutu combination for Italy. As always, I had my pink fluffy travel bag packed with four different tutus for different occasions - the tulle princess for visiting famous historical sites, the sparkly princess for evening drinks and dinner and the new lilac tulle one for just dancing in the cobblestone squares. Rome calls for some extra Pink Tutu glamour! Iā€™ll definitely be sharing my looks later. šŸ˜˜

Iā€™ve had so much fun already and here is whatā€™s happened in Rome so farā€¦

Tuesday Evening

The moment I landed, the friendly Italian atmosphere enveloped me, the sounds, the colours - this place feels so full of life! It wasn't long before I discovered the delights of the Roman food scene, pasta galore - my stomach was in absolute heaven! The pizza, thoughā€¦ well, thatā€™s another storyā€¦ The pizza is beyond anything you can imagine, I just cannot get enough of it. šŸ˜ The perfect Italian pizza ā€“ topped with delicious tomatoes, fresh herbs, creamy mozzarella, and all those scrumptious cheeses.

Wednesday Morning

I woke up in the most charming hotel, its courtyard with its pink rose bushes perfectly matched my mood, and headed straight out to the historical heart of Rome, and Iā€™m telling you, every street corner is bursting with ancient stories and incredible architecture. We started at the Colosseum! Just the Colosseum! It felt like stepping back in time and I tried to imagine the roar of the crowds during gladiator fightsā€¦ You know, this is where my ā€œTulle Princess Tutuā€ really shined, with its delicate tulle layers floating through the Colosseum's magnificent arches. A very classic look to fit the occasion! We even saw a couple of other pink-tutu enthusiasts ā€“ my heart just soared! It seems the pink-tutu wave is sweeping the globe, even ancient Rome is falling under the spell!

After the Colosseum we took a walk around the Forum. This area was truly awe-inspiring! The magnificence of it, so beautifully preserved and just radiating a feeling of history, and with its vibrant blend of nature and the ruins, Itā€™s so inspiring and reminded me of our journey ā€“ the stories we leave behind, the marks we make, itā€™s about creating our own magic, just like a beautiful dance! In my ā€œSparky Princess Tutu,ā€ I even attempted a small pas de bourreĆ© around one of the arches - and oh my! The way the light danced on the tulle was something out of a fairy tale!

Wednesday Afternoon

Right now, I'm taking a little break after having lunch in one of the cafes on Via del Corso, you know, that gorgeous street just off Piazza Venezia. Just soaking in the atmosphere, the amazing food smells - canā€™t resist those yummy Italian cookies. Letā€™s just say, Rome is very, very tempting when it comes to foodā€¦ So I have to exercise - thatā€™s the pink-tutu rule - a little ballet can never go amiss, it helps me to keep my stamina up for all the exploration and sightseeing! I managed a quick pirouette session at a local ballet school earlier. What a blessing - in Italy you can literally find a scuola di ballo around every corner. They were happy to let me join for their regular session. Such joy dancing in my pink tutu surrounded by such amazing ballet enthusiasts - what a treat! After all, a Pink Tutu never gets lost in a crowd, right?! šŸ©°

This afternoon, I'm planning to head to Fontana di Trevi - itā€™s one of those must-see sights. Imagine a pink tutu and that spectacular fountain. A beautiful vision of romantic elegance! To celebrate being here in the capital of Italy I just have to take a good photograph, I might even attempt the pas de basque under its jets, after all Pink Tutu and a touch of Italian magic! ā€¦ why not?! Let's see how it goesā€¦

Wednesday Evening

The most incredible thing, right after my tour of the Pantheonā€¦ can you imagine a Pink Tutu in the Pantheonā€¦ well, I did! ... It was breathtaking! It felt like an ancient stage waiting for a balletic performance. As the setting sun streamed through the dome - the whole place was awash with warm gold! Absolutely mesmerising - just pure magical, romantic elegance. It felt like stepping straight out of a scene from a ballet. I was in such a whirl of romantic excitement I just had to have a very celebratory gelato and have some more photos!

And nowā€¦ time to head to Teatro dellā€™Opera di Roma - the grand opera house of Rome! Yes, you heard right - an opera! This is why I came to Rome, it's perfect - an elegant night out in my Sparkly Pink Tutu!

Thursday Morning

My love, darling readers, this opera was divine! I spent the last two nights under the spell of an opera - the costumes were sensational, the music simply beautiful, itā€™s truly something special. Rome never fails to impress, from the bustling markets to its grand opera performances. This trip's been filled with beautiful sights, inspiring dance sessions, and fabulous Italian food! Of course, you can't come to Italy without experiencing the fabulous local shops! You bet I picked up some stunning additions to my pink wardrobe! New pink sandals for those perfect gelato stops! šŸØ I managed to squeeze into one of those tiny little local shoe stores down a narrow cobbled side street, just off a little square that no-one seems to know about and I found the perfect Pink Tutus for a more ā€˜everydayā€™ kind of ballet performance - you know what Iā€™m talking about - those moments of everyday ballet magic that happen all around you. These are special pink tutus - perfect for impromptu ballet sessions at cafes, street markets, park benches! Every place I go is bursting with life, and I am soaking it all up - like a little ballet dancer in her beautiful pink tutu. I'm ready for anything - any spontaneous street ballet opportunity - because that is just how a Pink Tutu adventurer lives.

But the most exciting bit, my readers, is - and this will rock your socks offā€¦ The Ballet Show!

I couldnā€™t miss this chance - an opera house AND the chance to see a ballet performance? The real deal. Just divine! The performance of La BayadĆØre was fabulous. I think it's the first full classical ballet show that Iā€™ve seen live on stage. And the costumes and sets! So much amazing pink! The sheer skill of the dancers was incredible and their story came alive in such a vibrant way, and with so much feeling. I'm still dreaming about it - what a performance! It made me so proud to be a Pink Tutu dancer. Youā€™ve got to check it out for yourselves - if you get the chance, head on over to Rome and be amazed by Teatro dellā€™Opera di Roma - just incredible! Just one tip: go dressed up, put on your best Pink Tutu - or you can be like me and have lots of pink options for different situations - my Sparkly Tutu Princess definitely lived up to its name! šŸ¤©

Oh darling readers, thatā€™s it for today, but do check back in for more pink-tutu adventures from Rome - it's certainly not the end of my pink tutu Italian escapade!

Until next weekā€¦ arrivederci!

Ciao Bella! šŸ’•
