It's Wednesday, 26th May, 2021, and today I'm filled with sunshine and gelato! Rome is positively buzzing, the air alive with the sounds of laughter, chattering Italians, and the rumble of the metro. It's a symphony of city life, and I wouldn't have it any other way!
Now, I must confess, travelling around Rome by metro has been quite the experience! It's such a stark contrast to Derbyshire, my charmingly tranquil home! You wouldn't catch me riding the Tube in London - let alone Rome! But hey, it's a fun way to explore and it gives you a front row seat to the real heart of the city! I might be tempted to grab a hot pink tutu for my next trip on the train, you never know!
I'm here in the Italian capital, like most of you, for the cultural treasures, the rich history, the iconic food... but mostly for the FASHION, darling! Rome is truly an explosion of colour, a feast for the eyes! I'm totally smitten with the vibrant colours, from the burnt oranges of ancient terracotta rooftops, to the creamy gelato colours, to the bright, happy prints adorning the street vendors. It's truly inspiring, I even spotted a few stylish Roman ladies sporting blush pink and baby pink, clearly sensing my pink tutu influence!
I'm also obsessed with Italian style - the beautiful tailoring, the effortless chic! Think sharp, minimalist outfits with a splash of bright colour or playful patterns. Now, that's something I can get on board with! As much as I adore a full-length pink tutu, even I understand that it might not be quite the thing for strolling around the Colosseum, right? 😉 But worry not, my dear readers, I have the perfect solution!
Fashion Fun: This week, I'm trying out a fresh take on my ballet-inspired style - a ballerina-esque blouse with a flowing floral skirt and a pink belt - just a touch of tutu! You know me, always aiming for a perfect blend of feminine elegance and my signature pink touch!
Shopping Spree: Now, the fashion talk brings me to my next favourite activity - shopping! It wouldn't be a Pink Tutu Rome blog without a little shopping spree, right? And what better place to find unique treasures than in Rome's vibrant street markets? The Trastevere market was a real gem. I snagged the most fabulous pair of cream and pink ballerina shoes, with delicate lace embellishments - perfect for the Colosseum visit! I even picked up a pair of vintage ballet-inspired earrings. A little pink rose in bloom to go with my delicate, ballerina charm!
Colosseum Magic: Oh, the Colosseum, what can I say? Truly magical! I swear, it felt like time stood still as I gazed at its vast and imposing facade. The ancient history surrounding this place, the echoes of the past, truly make it a once-in-a-lifetime experience! It was simply spectacular, and I can't wait to tell you all about it next week.
Pink Tutu Perfection: My Roman adventure started with a performance, and trust me, it wouldn't be complete without one! Last night I danced with the most fabulous troupe of ballerinas. You can't even imagine the beautiful outfits! They were swirling in these glorious silks, and I had the privilege of dancing with them, too! As much as I adore my pink tutu, the costumes were a vision. It truly showed that my ballet inspirations can take on new shapes, colours and even new countries!
Pink Tutu Inspiration: So, my dear friends, as I twirl my way through the wonders of Rome, I find myself constantly inspired by its vibrant energy, the warmth of the people, the beauty of its art, and, of course, its sartorial delights! But more than anything, it reminds me that it's all about embracing life, taking each day as it comes and never forgetting to sprinkle a little magic and a touch of pink on everything you do!
I truly believe everyone deserves to experience the wonder of a pink tutu, at least once in their life! It brings joy, it brings smiles, and most importantly, it reminds you to always live life with a dash of sparkle and a twirl of grace.
