Hello my lovelies, and welcome back to Pink Tutu Rome! It's Wednesday, and that means it's time for another week's dose of sunshine, style, and, of course, the most fabulous city in the world! As usual, I've got so much to share with you all about my adventures here. Let me tell you, Rome never fails to leave me breathless, and this week's escapades are going to leave you feeling positively sparkly!
As a girl who loves travelling by train, arriving in Rome always feels a little bit like stepping into a dream. The journey from Derbyshire to Rome feels like it transports me from my familiar little English village straight to the heart of history. It's a long journey but as soon as I set foot in Rome, I'm instantly wrapped in the charm and energy that makes this place so special. And of course, no trip to Italy is complete without my trusty pink tutu. It brings a little touch of Derbyshire fairytale to the grand Roman streets, and always guarantees a smile or two from passers-by!
Speaking of grand, I simply had to visit the Galleria Borghese this week. I'm obsessed with art, and it doesn’t get much grander than this breathtaking museum, nestled within the sprawling Villa Borghese Gardens. This week, the gardens were adorned with beautiful floral displays, and the air was filled with the fragrance of blooming roses and lavender. After taking in some of the exquisite sculptures, I felt myself truly inspired by Bernini's powerful creations - and I couldn't resist channeling that energy into my ballet practice that afternoon!
Rome: Where Fashion Meets History
Speaking of energy, Rome is bursting with style, darling! This city is a fashion enthusiast’s paradise! Imagine my delight when I discovered the Via Condotti, home to the world's most luxurious fashion boutiques. It’s like stepping into a high-end glossy magazine. I simply had to peek in at Valentino's iconic flagship store, even if it was just to dream a little (and maybe try on a pair of sky-high heels!), but my inner stylist couldn't resist snagging some gorgeous accessories for my Rome wardrobe. You see, you'll never find a city where the latest fashions and centuries-old history collide so gracefully.
A Romantic Ballet Under the Roman Stars
The real treat, though, came when I visited the Teatro dell'Opera di Roma! This majestic opera house, adorned with golden chandeliers and beautiful frescoed ceilings, made my ballerina heart skip a beat! I attended a captivating performance of "Romeo and Juliet", with its sweeping melodies and heartbreaking love story. I almost shed a tear during the balcony scene – it was truly magical. The ballet dancers, with their fluid grace and exquisite choreography, left me breathless with awe.
Rome never fails to spark my creativity and I've already incorporated a couple of steps inspired by the ballet into my ballet routine! Of course, what's a performance without a glamorous pink tutu?! I had the perfect one for this occasion - one of my favourite pieces from my latest collection with its soft blush and shimmering sequined detail. It was just what I needed to make this special night unforgettable.
Fashion Finds in the Heart of Rome
After the breathtaking opera performance, it was time for a bit of 'Pink Tutu Rome' retail therapy! The streets were buzzing, and I found myself drawn to some exquisite artisan boutiques that sold the most delightful Roman ceramics, beautifully crafted leather goods, and charming hand-painted scarves. It’s amazing how many hidden treasures you can discover in this enchanting city.
I’ll be honest – I am a total sucker for a pretty vintage dress and after spotting an adorable, vintage boutique with lace and floral print frocks just bursting with romance, I just had to take a peek inside! This boutique was filled with delicate vintage pieces perfect for twirling. In no time, I found a perfect floral vintage sundress in the most exquisite pale pink – how could I resist adding this gorgeousness to my collection?
Dancing the Night Away in the Eternal City
After indulging in delicious Roman pizza (because what’s a trip to Rome without authentic pizza? ) , we made our way to the Campo de' Fiori, where a lively, outdoor concert was in full swing! It felt as though the whole city had gathered together under the stars to celebrate music and life, and the infectious energy filled the air! With my Pink Tutu in tow, naturally, I couldn't resist taking a few twirls under the vibrant lights and the sound of laughter ringing through the night air!
