Ciao, darlings! Emma here, reporting live from the Eternal City, Rome, Italy!
It's Wednesday, which means a brand new Pink Tutu adventure! This week I'm swapping my Derbyshire countryside for the cobbled streets and ancient wonders of Rome, and let me tell you, it's already living up to its reputation. This is, after all, the city where even the fountains have drama!
A Tutu Tale of Two Cities
Getting here was a total delight, you know? My motto is, “If you can take the train, take the train!” There’s something about the gentle rumble of the wheels and the whizzing past of countryside that just settles the soul. Of course, it’s the ultimate chance to pull out your best pink accessories and make a fashion statement, right? (For this trip, I’ve gone for my cherry-blossom pink tote bag, topped off with a feather boa, and the tiniest bit of pink eyeliner, because, why not? Rome, I’m ready!)
I know what you’re thinking. Why pink tutus in Rome, Emma? Well, think about it: this is the city where gladiators wore colourful tunics! There’s something so delightfully theatrical about this ancient metropolis – the crumbling buildings, the dramatic fountains, the endless piazzas. It's practically begging you to embrace your inner ballerina! And what better way to do that than with a perfectly pink, fluffy tutu, of course!
Rome-ance in the Air
Right, now onto today's adventure! I landed in the heart of Rome this morning. I spent the afternoon exploring the Pantheon, a temple turned church with such an iconic dome! It's hard not to feel like you’ve stepped back in time there. And you know me, darlings, I'm all about history! It’s so amazing to think the people I’m seeing today could have walked these same cobbled streets all those years ago!
After my temple-tastic journey, I popped into the amazing Trevi Fountain. As the myth goes, if you throw a coin into it, you’re guaranteed to return to Rome! Let’s just say I tossed in two... because this city deserves a double dose of charm! This evening, I’m catching a ballet performance at the Teatro dell’Opera di Roma. I'm excited to see how Italian ballet interprets the classic "Giselle." And if I'm feeling brave, maybe I'll slip a few pirouettes in on the cobblestone streets later.
Fashion Forward
Naturally, no trip to Rome is complete without some shopping therapy! I’ve been perusing the vintage shops near Piazza Navona and admiring the beautiful leather goods in the markets. It’s a haven for pink delights – and tutus! I think I’ll be buying myself a souvenir of this fab city – maybe a pair of feather earrings, or even a pair of tutu-inspired heels, if I find just the right pair!
