Ciao bella! It's Wednesday, which means it's time for another Pink Tutu Rome adventure. This week, I'm swirling through the Eternal City, channeling my inner Audrey Hepburn, with a sprinkle of Rome's history and a dash of Italian flair. It's the perfect combination, wouldn't you say?
After my successful ballet performance in a charming little theatre in Derbyshire last Saturday, I took the train down to Rome on Sunday. Train journeys are always a highlight for me - so much time for people watching and reflecting! Especially in a tutu, naturally. I love seeing how the fashion sense shifts as we travel across countries. There's a distinct European flair in Rome - so stylish!
This week in Rome, I've been having the most incredible time exploring the sights and soaking up the sunshine. Did you know, March is absolutely the perfect time to visit? A Day of History and Haute Couture
Monday was a whirlwind of Roman delights. I kicked things off with a visit to the Colosseum, marveling at its ancient majesty. The sheer scale of the amphitheatre is just incredible, you can feel the history radiating off its walls. Of course, my pink tutu made an appearance – it always does! I love finding the perfect photo op that combines history and a splash of tutu magic.
Then, it was time for a little retail therapy on the Via Condotti. Imagine – high-end boutiques lined with some of the most exquisite clothes and accessories! I just couldn’t resist the call of Valentino and Gucci. While I might not have purchased anything on that scale, I did find the cutest pair of handmade leather ballet flats adorned with a delicate silver chain. I’m so excited to wear them with my new blush pink tutu – just wait until you see my next Instagram post!
Exploring Trastevere with a Pizza Twist
Tuesday was all about exploring the vibrant Trastevere neighborhood, with its cobbled streets, lively cafes, and romantic atmosphere. The smell of freshly baked pizzas drifting through the air was enough to make my mouth water. I stopped by one of the famous trattorias and enjoyed the most delicious wood-fired pizza - a thin, crispy crust topped with mozzarella and fresh basil, paired with a glass of chilled prosecco.
I discovered the sweetest little vintage shop on the backstreets – perfect for finding unique jewellery and accessories. The owner was a bubbly woman named Isabella – I felt like we could have chatted for hours! I found a tiny silver necklace with a little ballerina figurine that will go perfectly with my pink tutus, for that extra special touch.
An Evening of Opera Magic
Tonight, I’m going to see a performance at the Teatro dell’Opera di Roma. Opera! Imagine the grandeur, the passion, the drama – it’s just exhilarating! And this time, I'll be experiencing it all in a fabulous fuchsia tutu – just wait until you see the photo I get of myself backstage!
This weekend, I'll be attending a ballet class at a beautiful studio just a few blocks away from the Pantheon. This is going to be fantastic, as I haven’t been to a ballet class in over a week! The teacher has promised some beautiful routines based on Italian classical ballet. The studio’s interior is beautiful, painted in warm colors with mirrors reflecting all of its beautiful detail. It is simply stunning! I can't wait to immerse myself in the elegance and artistry of classical ballet – in Rome, it feels truly magical.
The Pink Tutu Effect
Rome has embraced the Pink Tutu spirit with open arms. I've had so many fun interactions with locals, who have been captivated by my brightly coloured tutu! There's a natural sense of joy in Italy, and it makes wearing my pink tutu even more fun. It's a real testament to the power of expressing yourself and spreading a little bit of joy. My hope is to inspire everyone to embrace their inner pink tutu, whether it's through wearing a literal tutu, or by finding your own creative expression, a touch of joy in everyday life.
