Pink Tutu Rome: Post 1400 - La Dolce Vita in Pink!

Ciao bella! It's Wednesday, which means it's time for another #PinkTutuRome post! I'm currently writing this from a tiny café tucked away in a side street off the Via Condotti, a street practically bursting with fashion houses. But don't worry, darling, I'm not on a shopping spree (yet)! We'll get to that soon enough. 😉

Firstly, I wanted to tell you about my incredible journey here. My trusty train ticket got me all the way to Roma Termini, a journey which was absolutely jam-packed with gorgeous scenery. There's nothing like the countryside to put a pep in your step, and I can't tell you how much I love travelling by train. The rumble of the wheels, the quiet chuff of the engine, the views rolling by, it just feels so romantic and relaxing!

And yes, I wore my pink tutu of course! 😉 The beautiful thing about ballet wear is it’s both comfortable and chic, which is important when you’re dashing about, you know what I mean? I’m thinking of creating a ‘Pink Tutu Travels’ range of outfits specifically for exploring! The first stop, of course, is my beloved Rome. This city has been dreaming for me since I was little. Imagine, the Colosseum, the Trevi Fountain, the Spanish Steps! My imagination was just bubbling over with visions of my perfect Roman holiday – pink, pretty, and with lots of gelato, of course!

Speaking of perfect, yesterday was magnificent! After a delicious brunch of freshly baked pastries, and a truly glorious cappuccino (Italian coffee, oh my! ✨), we hopped onto the metro and zoomed right into the centre of Rome. I mean, can we just take a moment to appreciate those beautifully crafted underground carriages?! I practically sparkled on the journey!

Firstly, I went on an epic food tour around the Trastevere neighborhood. It was a truly delightful adventure, and the highlight was definitely the Roman street food. Oh, the arancini! And the supplì! Just heavenly. The aroma, the flavours, the freshness... my tastebuds went to Rome with excitement!

And of course, I simply had to have a scoop (or two) of gelato. There's something truly special about Italian gelato. It’s creamy, rich, and oh-so-delectable! The gelato cart owner even suggested that I try a scoop of strawberry-sorbet-and-a-little-whipped-cream to go with it, for that extra bit of 'La Dolce Vita'!

In the evening, it was time for the main event - a Ballet at the Opera show! I just can’t describe the energy that was swirling through the theatre when we all finally entered that space! The performance itself, a beautiful rendition of Swan Lake, just took my breath away! The elegance, the grace, the storytelling… pure magic! There were several lovely local girls in tutus who came up and asked me if they could have a photo, so obviously I was happy to oblige. This is exactly why I want to encourage everyone to wear tutus, they make you feel amazing and allow for such joyful connection and smiles all around. And honestly, it’s so great to see everyone spreading their wings with their tutus. The whole experience of being in a theatre during a performance is something quite special, darling, and there’s so much more that comes with it than just watching the dancers – there’s also the excitement of the audience, the pre-show anticipation, and of course, the post-show discussions, all buzzing around us like beautiful, invisible threads woven through the whole evening!

Today, I am totally* buzzing* with ideas for my next blog post. We are headed over to visit the Galleria Borghese today to see the paintings by *Caravaggio (my absolute *favourite) and the fabulous sculptures by Bernini, followed by a lovely lunch near the Pincian Terrace, where we’ll be admiring the spectacular views overlooking the city. We’re also venturing into Trastevere tonight for some tasty tapas, drinks, and some more exploring. Maybe I'll even be able to snag a picture with the Trevi Fountain bathed in the glorious pink glow of sunset!

Rome is such a romantic city. I think I'm definitely smitten! As soon as we arrived at my charming little apartment (complete with a balcony perfect for morning coffee and a good book!), I knew this was going to be an incredible adventure. Oh, darling! I just wish you were here with me!

You can follow my Rome adventures here at www.pink-tutu.com each Wednesday. Remember to send me your #PinkTutuRome adventures, or share any thoughts on what I should check out during my time here, I’d love to hear your suggestions!

Until next week, darling, keep shining!

Love,

Emma xxx
