Welcome to another Wednesday from yours truly, Emma, your favourite pink tutu-wearing traveller! Today, I’m bringing you a blast of sunshine from the heart of Rome – and oh, what a beautiful city it is!
This week, I'm dancing my way through the ancient streets of Rome, breathing in the sweet scent of jasmine and freshly baked bread. I can already tell that this city is going to be full of romance and inspiration. Maybe I’ll even get a little dolce vita action going on – and who knows, maybe I'll find myself twirling in a romantic fountain!
Rome, my Roman Holiday
Travelling to Rome, even if it was a Wednesday, had me feeling like I'd just landed in a romantic Italian film. The streets were teeming with scooters and colourful little shops, the air was full of chatter and laughter, and everyone was sporting a dash of Italian chic. My train journey from Derbyshire was pure magic, you know? Those little carriages that glide along the countryside, passing by vineyards and olive groves. A total fairytale experience!
The moment I arrived, I just had to go find the perfect outfit for my first Roman adventure. It wasn't too long before I stumbled upon a little shop bursting with sunshine yellow silk scarves and stunning ruched dresses, the kind that swish with every step. I knew instantly this dress was going to be the perfect backdrop for all the photos I planned to take today. Oh, the power of pink!
I can't wait to share some of my favourite Roman haunts with you - the hidden trattorias where you can get the best pasta, the vintage boutiques with unique finds just waiting to be discovered, and, of course, all the fabulous photo-worthy locations, ready for the ultimate Pink Tutu selfie!
My Rome Schedule:
My Italian adventure has started with a bang, and this Wednesday's jam-packed itinerary reflects just that:
- Morning: A spot of early morning practice in my hotel room – you never forget the joy of a good stretch! Plus, it sets the right mood for all the exploring and sightseeing ahead.
- Lunch: Lunchtime meant pizza, pasta and sunshine. We found this adorable trattoria with little red and white tablecloths tucked away on a quiet street. The aromas, the colours, it was pure Italian magic!
- Afternoon: Off to the Colosseum, a testament to the beauty of ancient Roman architecture, so rich in history. I just knew the grandeur of it would inspire me. I wonder what kind of tutu you would wear at such a legendary place?
- Evening: And what better way to end the day than with a performance at the Opera! I'll be catching a spectacular ballet featuring Romeo and Juliet – I can't wait to be swept away by their tragic love story!
Pink Tutu Shopping Tips: Finding the Perfect Italian Style
As for today's Pink Tutu fashion inspiration? I'm aiming for a blend of chic, practical and romantic, just like this beautiful city. Think ruched dresses, flowy skirts, chic sun hats and a dash of lace! Don't be afraid to embrace a little colour – even pink, of course, is always a welcome addition to an Italian ensemble! You'll find stunning hand-painted ceramics, elegant handmade leather bags and some of the finest silk scarves - everything a ballerina needs!
I’m definitely going to make a visit to the Teatro dell'Opera in Rome and check out their souvenir shop – maybe I’ll find some ballet-inspired pink tutus! I mean, who can resist a little pink tutus for a truly unforgettable Roman holiday?
